Is Halloween Bad?

Hi thelilsis,
Welcome to MyLot! I honestly don't think that Hallowe'en is bad. I just see it as a fun time for kids to dress up, go trick or treating, decorate their houses, carve pumpkins, and get a little scared. I don't think it's evil by any means. I think people read way too much into an innocent, fun holiday! Everyone has their own feelings about it, those are just mine!

Many of the fun rituals of halloween resemble a festival
that was held by ancient druids in Scandanavia. I wouldn't
allow my kids to do Halloween for a long time b/c I had
read that, but they always wanted to do it b/c all their
friends and our relatives did it. I did Halloween as a child
and really enjoyed it. I decided that what those druids did in the 13th
century or whatever
doesn't have anything to do with our fun Halloween activities today so
I have allowed them to participate for the last few years.
I do think people need to do Halloween safely b/c of all the crazies out there that will put harmful stuff into the candy and such. Parents should take their kids out and not let them go around the neighborhood by themselves. Or maybe just take them to a party and skip the trick or treats.
