It's sad that people will give a negative rate when they disagree with you.

I don't usuall;y get into any of the many 'hot debates' in here. I like the nice easy discussions that don't offend anyone. Maybe that's why I have a 10 rating for so long. But one day, I happend into a discussion that was quite heated. I gave my opinion, as I have the right to do. Next thing I know, my # dropped to 9!!! And assuming that this is an average, there must have been a lot of people give me a negative. I was only trying to show 'the other side' in this debate. But I guess no one wanted to hear that, they just want validation from other people to be angry at those who had offended them, not caring about the flip side. Oh well, so now I'm a nine. I wonder how fast I can drop it another point... Let me find another hot topic and have some fun!!! (Just kidding)

That happened to me too... a few weeks ago... i got finally reached a rating of ten... we all know that that is the highest possible rating that a mylot member can get... then i responded to a discussion about abortion... a lot of people actually disagreed with me... then my rating suddenly went back to nine... Well... i just look at it as another challenge to get my rating 10 back... i don't usually give a negative rating on the views or opinions of others... in fact i don't actually recall giving a negative rating... maybe i just forgot...

Some people really don't want to hear an opposing opinion. Crazy.

I've been a 10 for almost 5 months, but I'm back again to nine. I don't really assume that people where the most responsible in having my star/rating decreased, it would be better if we would understand how things work out here. And the very first step to understand about the ratings is by reading mylot's FAQ's and guidelines, as what I've done eversince these star feature was introduced. Lots of post have been deleted for the past few weeks, as what I've also experienced. Everyday I log on here, I always receive a deleted post (those of which I've responded to). Then after a couple of days, my blue star turned to read and my rating is now 93/100. I always believe that these stars are added features for us to improve at, if our ratings decrease then might as well work hard for it to get back on top again. I'm not that affected by these stars, there are lots of things here to enjoy than worry about the ratings.

Where do you go to see what your rating is? You said yours is 93/100? Where is that posted?? I'm curious what mine is. I know it's 9?/100, but I wanna see what exactly.

I haven't done it myself but once I did post a discussion that some people didn't agree with, though I was polite throughout the whole thing, some people were being rude. I ignored the rude replies, didn't give negatives. Just because I don't agree with you, you don't have to be rude, I wasn't rude. I didn't give negatives to their responses but I did however drop in my ratings the next day because of it. Difference of opinion will drop your rating, even if you are very polite in your different opinion.

Hi! I am Bala.I started a discussion last week about women turning a blind eye to husbands' flirting.I got very strong remarks from some ladies who has taken it very personally. And my star turned red from blue. Can you smell the connection?I have been patient ignoring the imbeciles. They live a very very cocooned life. The sad part is knowing a little English make them proud and make them happy at whatever they write in that language.

That is sad. Because I always thought that "-" rating is for people whose replies are off-topic ore oneliners like, "I agree with you" or post sensless discussions. Some people should really learn how to be at least little objective_

If I don't agree with someone, but they still contributed, I'll rate them positive. If they say something I don't really like, I won't rate them at all. The only people I ever gave a negative were ones who come into a discussion to say that they don't care about this topic, or that it's a stupid discussion.

I really haven't rated a lot of post yet. I think the few that I have given were positve. I think that there was one negative. I don't remember what it was about. I'm nor really sure how this rating system works. If it allows people to give a negative rating because they don't like a particular MYLotter; then I don't think it's fair or right. It's one thing to disagree with what a person says. You shouldn't give a negative rating because you are angry with some one. Do you rate every post? I don't just those that move me one way or the other. If I'm not mistaken I am nearing the point where I will be getting a star. I thin that this is my 99th post. I think 100 is the magic number if I'm not mistaken. I can't wait to see what my first star number will be!

It is very unfair and a very demotivating habit by some bad-mannered people. You know, some people just don't know how to containthemselves and how to appreciate and respect other people's views.

I don't think I have given out more than five negatives to any discussion since I started here, and those were for abuse rather than disagreement. I think the periodic clean up may have something to do with the drop in rating.

That is sad and so silly sweetheart! I would never give someone a negative rating for disagreeing with me - that is just juvenille! I have been in many heated debates in the past but always try to stay polite and respect other peoples opinions and right to have those opinions - guess i am lucky I didn't disagree with the wrong person. I hope that whoever did that feels as petty as they seem and won't do it again! xxx

You may an opinion which nobody will agree, even then you may the right person. But give respect to the opposition it is their right to disagree. But we all need a common approach so that there will consensus

You are right. I can't believe that people can give a negative rate because we don't disagree with them. I have never given anybody a negative rate. I hope all of us can be benefical from here. There is no reason we will do something bad to each other. Even if a different opinion is still appreciated in my discussions. I even marked the best response even if the view is different than mine.

I've seen this happen to some nice people on here, but over time it will even out. I would not silence myself just to keep a rating, but sometimes when I jump in with a controversial opinion I think to myself, "Oh, here goes.. Do you know, I think I've been "minused" by people for having responses they thought were too long! I thought that was the whole idea here. You just can't please everyone, eh?

It happens. You should see redyellowblackdog. He had his star removed the other day. Then there is yours truly who gets ramrodded back to 4 or 5 anytime the star rating rises back to better levels.

I guess that's just how life goes -- some people believe they have a good opinion by being contrarian.

I got my 10 last month.I lost it to 9 last evening.I got back my 10 this evening.I like this game.Since these numbers are in the hands of mylotters We cannot do anything about it.Being an international forum we cannot expect everyone has a mental maturity here. That is really sad and the price we pay for having fun here.

I've heard many people say that is the reason for their star rating to drop. I don't know. Mine dropped also, and I very rarely even answer the really controversial topics...so who knows.

I think it is ridiculous to give a negative rating because you don't agree with a opinion. I like to here the opposite side of the coin and I think it expands a person to take in consideration more than just my own opinion. There are people from all over and there is just no way that people are going to agree on all things. That would not even be logical. We are thinking people which means that each of us has a right to our own opinion and not to shoot down someone else because they don't agree with us.
