Still affected by Ratings?

To all those who whines and complains out there, did the stars killed you? I'm talking about the ratings here, since I've seen lots of loser-users are still affected with it's sudden dropping. I'm sorry, but this is what I see whenever you start a post about your "precious" ratings. I'm wondering, is there anything else that you can think worthy to talk about? Let's say that your ratings change everyday, would you start it everytime it increases or decreases? Where is the point there, is it the end of your mylot world? Why bother or worry much about it, when you can do something more contributive to post at? As for me, I've been to 10 for the past months and I've also seen some of my friends change from 10 to 9 and yet I don't see anyone from them complain. It's becoming a trend and other capitalizes on it just to earn a cent, it's really sickening to see others do this repeatitively.

I also think that some people put to much importance in the star rating. I've also drop from 10 to 9, but who cares. I'm not here to have a 10. I'M here to discuss with friends, to help them and even to learn things. This is what we should all focus on in Mylot :)

That's right, we're all here to enjoy and learn something. Why should we let the ratings ruin that for us, when there's more things to discuss and think about than worry of our stars.

Aheheh... Good thing I'm not a whiner nor a complainer. I'm just a relatively new recipient of a rating, having completed my first 100 posts just recently and along with it an "8" rating. Now, though, the rating is down to a silver 7 but I'm not at all upset. I believe it's just a normal thing and nobody should be upset because we get ratings based on the stars given our posts. Those stars are the prerogatives of those who read our posts. As for me, I make sure that I rate the posts I receive in the discussions I've started or even in the discussions that I participate in. Although done in anonymity, it's my way of encouraging our fellow myLotters. :)

Thank you, that is all true. It's better to think of other things and worry about "real" problems, than get affected by these stars and ratings.

I don't really notice most of the time the ratings especially mine. I have been in and out here for the past months and there were weeks that I have not checked by mylot but when i got back, i noticed that my rating is still 10. I don't really wonder how it came about or why it is still 10. It's just there for me and its good. If it becomes lesser, i would wonder but i would never loose sleep over it.

I guess that's one of the best thing, most of us here are always logged on here and notice the changing of our stars from up to going down. As you know, I also used to sport a blue star with a 10, and now my star changed to red with a 9. But never in my thoughts that I got affected by it, I just think about it as another "wake-up call" for me to put out my best again. I don't worry about it, besides it's good to have a rating than get nothing at all!;)

Hello! I reckon the only time I felt bad about my star rating was when after I reached my 100th posts I got 10, I was so happy about it, all joy and teary eyes *wahaha* and then after a couple days...booom! went down to 8, I felt sad 'coz it went down so fast...but I didn't whine about it nor complain, I was just sad. I actually don't give a care about the star rating, 'coz anybody can affect it, anybody can give you - & + rating here any time they fancy it. My star rating doesn't matter and will never change the fact that i'm a woman with 4 Ssss = super smart silly stupid woman in my own ways....*wahaha* oh ha! Now, my star is 9...red...matching colour with my avatar! kewl! *hihi* I'm just glad and satisfied that I got a star above my avatar..it would be nice if we could choose our star colour..*hehe* ciao! c",)

I held a ten star rating for a long time, but as you see right now, I'm again on 9. It doesn't matter to me anymore, it somehow motivated me in improving and creating more contributive posts instead of complaining for it's sudden drop. Thank you for your time, have a great day and God bless!;)

I don't start threads on it, but have started a parody discussion on it to call attention to it. Like it or not Raijin the system is broken and some people still have an irritation to it. Especially those that do their best and post 120% quality all the time. I've talked about cooking, cleaning, computer help, internet, social issues; I've helped many other mylot members with their problems. I think I deserve the occasion quip against the star rating. It worthless. Oh and some new members and even a couple older members don't even trust you if you are not carrying a high number -_- I do agree that someone posting everytime their star changes by like 1, that shouldn't be happening. However, if someone earns an 8, 9 or 10 and gets repeatedly dragged back to 5, 4, 3, 2 or 1, they should be entitled to rant on it from time to time.

I don't know how long you've been here but as for experience, I don't want to make speculations unless the MYLOT have pointed their side about the issue. I also don't depend or ask of something in return on those I've helped before (I know I have), for a simple "thank you" is already a helpful boost to keep me posting. I saw your "parody post" and this post of mine has nothing to do with you, it's about those who don't listen or understand what the rules and guidelines are used for. If they continue to ignore these, they I don't think they deserve any good explanation since they will not listen at all.

I'm not affected by rating at all, but I'm happy that our reputation have some response in our earnings;) And I noticed it too, those "OMG why did my ranking dropped" posts. I think if you're on the edge of two levels it may change every day and whinning won't change it. I just may be the sign for you that you should be more decriptive in your pelies etc.

Right! Ranting, complaining and whining will not help, because it will only look like as if they are asking for other posters to rate them positive so their ratings would raise up again. For me it is as the same as soliciting, which is UNFAIR and falls under the DON'Ts of mylot's guidelines..

I usually don't bother about the ratings. I notice mine when I see a posting on ratings..lol I'm here to discuss topics that interest me (lol...ratings still happen to be one of them). Well...you posted a discussion on ratings didn't you?:)

Thanks you for giving your time here, and nice to see you again. I actually post this types of discussions to help others improve their performance, instead of speculating and start a fad that is nothing but non-sense posts. Most of the topics I post are supported by links which came from mylot, because I also want to share CREDIBLE informations. I believe that there's more things to enjoy here than be afected by ratings, might as well focus on that and continue having fun..

It no longer bothers me because it has nothing to do with my earning from Mylot. However, I still hope to have a good fame and I deserve to have a 10 star:) I always rate others positive, so that everybody will have a good fame, too.

I'm sorry to tell you this my friend, but it does affect the earnings we get here. But this depends on the quality our post are made, that only the admin knows whom they should reward it. This link will explain everything to you, so I suggest you read it: http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq17.aspx But the ratings don't affect me at all, may it be for earnings or the stars. I'm not after those, I'm here to enjoy and exchange views with people!;)

hello raijin. You know very well, when I was first "hit" by the sudden dropping of my star rating. I was disappointed and I thought for sure that someone out there was trying to pull me down. But as you have adviced me, I shouldn't think that way. There might be other reasons why my rating had dropped. It might be that I've had broken some of the rules, not even knowing it. And for that advice, I started to not be so affected by the dropped rating. You have witnessed that I went back up again to having a blue star, then went down again, then back up again. I think some users repeatedly post discussions of their dropped ratings because I have read in some discussions, that our ratings have something to do with what we are earning here. And maybe they have read that same discussion, and maybe that's why they posts those discussions. They are worried about the outcome of their earnings. I have come across some discussions that you were talking about. And they have certainly earned a lot of responses.

The reason why I posted this is because the same people start that same topic over and voer again, it's already annoying. I believe that there's always a certain reason for why this is happening, but I always provide them the best answers and yet, they still don't get it. So it's starting to "not" look good at all, no matter how many response they receive this'll never stop. So in short, it only means that they have other purpose why they always start it. Which is that's to gather pity for other posters, solicit (+) rates from other members and mislead users. I know that ratings does affect our earnings, and the best possible and fair thing to do is work HARD to achieve it again.

I never thought of it that way. For some discussions that I've come across concerning their constant dropped rating, you would think their main purpose for posting that discussion was to seek an explanation as to why it happened.

Soliciting ratings? That happens here? Isn't a rating supposedly up to the reader, in just about the same manner that a discussion starter has the liberty to choose which ones to mark as Best Response? It's sad to know that people solicit for ratings.
