I would like to hear from everyone here at mylot about what thier homes are like. What type of home do you live in? Apartment, bungalow, two-story, town-house? How much living or interior space does your home have? What is your property like? Do you have a small yard, a big farm, an acre of woodland? Do you plant gardens and landscape or is your land more plain and natural? We live in a small bungalow witha finished basement. We have about 800 square feet of living space over the two floors (our 2 bedrooms are in the basement.) We have just over an acre of land that consists of a large front yard a large back yard and a wooded area that we are working on fixing up. We have a few flower gardens now but we plan to put in alot more plants and flowers and rocks and outdoor decorations. So tell me about your home. If you have any pictures of your home please include them in your response. A picture is worth 1000 words and here at Mylot it's also worth more credit!

I live in a small fishing community on the North Atlantic coast of Canada. I have a one level three bedroom house, with basement. I have a front and back yard. The back goes into the woods where the children make forts and we go on hikes which is cool. I have a neighbor across the road and one to the left side. We get along good and have a lot of space between us for privacy. I have a veggie garden in the back. Also lots of room for outdoor sports like soccer and badminton and swimming in the summer. In the winter though there is a lot of shoveling of snow for the long driveway. The children and I love to decorate the house for the upcoming holidays so right now it looks like a haunted house overtaken by cobwebs, witches and monsters. LOL

house - my house
I live on a farm, 700 acres which half clear ground and then the other half heavy scrub, a house which got finished being built about 3 yrs ago, (my father a builder). It’s a fairly big house, our closest neighbour is about 3 kilometres away. So its really good to have piece and quiet.

That must be really nice, living across the street from the beach. We live about 1km froma a fresh water beach. We don't go there much because it is only a small beach and does not allow dogs but the lake is huge and we are told have many beaches, we just have to find the secret dirt roads to them.

I live in suburbia in half of an old duplex. It has 4 small rooms and kitchen and 1 bath. I have a small yard with a terrace, some lawn, fruit trees and bushes. It is an old, grown neighborhood where nobody moves away. I like it here, it is not far from downtown.

Our House - This is our house we bought a year ago. We plan on selling it in another two or three years once we get some equity in it and get something smaller and less costly. Right now it's just an investment.
We have a two story grey brick house in which is on 5 acres of wooded land. We have a long slopped driveway with a dry creek bed at the bottom. Plants were already there when we bought the house and we put down plastic and wood chips to keep the weeds from growing. We have a kids play house out back for our God kids when they come up to visit in the summer. There's two bedrooms on the main floor and an office and then a big huge room upstairs and another bedroom at the far end of it. It's a beautiful home and we plan on keeping it for a few years and then sell it in hopes to make a decent profit off of it to buy something a little bit less pricey. So it's an investment for now.

Your house is beautiful. With the way the houseing market seems to be going it would appear that any house with property is a good investment. People around here say "Buy land, God isn't making anymore." We have no intention of moveing anytime soon but we still really enjoy discussing how much we have rasied the value of our home each time we do something to improve it.

I live in Kerala .My home is a two storeyed building. it has one hall and dining room,5 bedrooms, five toilets, one study room, kitchen, workarea,a store room and a beautiful garden in front that stretches till the gate. There are two aquariums inside. There are two kennels with two lovely dogs and a green house with orchids and anthuriums outside. There are plenty of plants and trees of different varieties outside which cools the air around the house even on a hot day.I love my world.

That sounds like a very big house. Our house is only small. We plan to add on one day but we are happy with what we have now. Around here alot of people are down sizing to the smallest house they can live in so that energy costs will be less and also you can have nicer things, like nicer flooring, when you have less space to cover the cost per square foot bcomes less significant.

I reside in central Texas in a home that is just over a year old. I love our home, but it has issues we have been dealing with due to what we think is shoddy work on the houses. I will not go into it, but it is a cute house otherwise. It is 3 bed, 2 bath, and just over 1600 square feet.

My place is here in Cavite, the nearest province from Manila. Our home is just enough, we have lawn and gardens that showcases plants and vegetables as well. Our house is a bungalow-type, with 3 bedrooms, with huge guest rooms and dining rooms. We also have lots of space in the back of our house, used for laundry and other stuffs. Sorry, we don't have any photos available.

I live in a three storey town house on the outskirts of the city. The place is quite large, having three double bedrooms, a big lounge, big kitchen and two bathrooms. My partner and I are planning to move on though, to find something a little smaller with fewer stairs as I find it difficult to keep going up and down the stairs now.

Yeah its no good to have more space than you need. It doesn't make sense these days what with the cost of heating. Plus you can have nicer things in a small space and you will likely make some extra money when you move if you own your home.

I live in a 3 storey house in the middle of a big city. ALthough the house is big, it is divided in two apartments. We live in the second and third floor and my in laws have the basement and the first floor. MY own space is not too big - actually small for us now -we have 2 bedrooms only so we had to use some imagination to make sure that there are 3 sleeping spaces. There is a back yard that we can use but it's kind of my in laws part of the house. WE do have a deck on the third floor which is nice :) WE don't have much space in the front but there's enough for a bit of grass and flowers. I don't have much say in the front yard. My mother in law likes to do her own thing so let's just say that it is not exactly the way I would do it:)

Well.....I would imagine that living with your moth-in-law probably makes your home feel alot smaller than it actually is. I couldn't imagine living with my in-laws I would lose my mind. You could always plant your own garden in flower boxes on your deck.

Our home is small, only has one-story structure, in the Philippines. It has 4 rooms and 2 bathrooms. When I was about ten, I usually plant the leftover vegetables when my mother cook. I like the feeling of seeing them grow and consuming my own produce. We had had many pets, doves, dogs, cats, rats, guinea pigs, etc. Now we only have 5 cats and a guinea pig. We don't have much yard, just enough for our owner-type jeep and some trees. People around us are friendly. Living here is so simple and fun. ^__^

When you say 4 rooms do you mean 4 bedrooms or 4 rooms total, like: 1. living room, 2. kitchen, 3. bedroom, 4. bedroom? I 4 bedroom house here would be considered quite large.

I'm living in a apartment on the top floor of an old building in Beijing,China. This building belongs to my Company and it is free for the employees of my company. I have a bedroom,a kitchen and a bathroom.I have done some decorations,so it looks like so "girl".For me now the space is enough and very comfortable. I also want to buy a house when I get married. But it is impossible for me to afford a house here because the price of property in Beijing is so high that even white-collar professionals find that the dream of owning a home is out of reach.

I have heard that the living spaces in China tend to be smaller. I guess because China has so many people. Here is canada alot of people are living in smaller spaces to save on money and energy.

I live in a split entry - 2 bedrooms up and 1 down. Nice big back yard for living in the city - about 90 feet deep. Just starting to tinker with some planting. Live in Cole Harbour, NS - home of NHL finest Sidney Crosby.
