One of the newborns died this morning. But it wasn't thriving, not eating or anything. So we've only got 3 newborns. I'm pretty sure at least one will make it tho, its very noisy & strong & eats well. the other 2 are eating, just not with the same enthusiasm. So far i'm calling them Tabs, Bib & Pinky.

Awww I'm so sorry to hear that! Maybe it's best for it to go to heaven where it can be whole but still, it's hard on us when we lose one. With the other two maybe a good rub down, might get them going like the one is. Worth a try anyway. Good luck with them!

Oh nooooo!! I'm so sorry to hear bout one of the lil ones dying. Wish the mother would agree to being caught so she could nurse her babies so the rest won't die. It's very hard raising kittens that aren't weaned w/o any dying on you.

I realized after posting you had several litters to deal with and that you were talking about Rose and her kittens. I hope Rose will make it. Could be with her being so sick, it passed onto the kittens b4 their birth or during it, which could be why the kittens aren't fairing well.

We have this litter's mom, but she too sick to take care of them, if she even had a clue what to do. She's at the vets. And we can't even put the little one in witht he big ones, they are too big now.

Unfortuantely, we lost the last 3 last night. The older 5 are doing pretty good, but they are 2 weeks old and had mom's milk for 10 days. They are having some small issues from being born to a feral & having no mom to keep them clean, but Oliver survived it, and these guys are eating & have each other to keep themselves warm & can make most of their own body heat now.

Since the mother cat was probably old and sick, there is a chance of the kittens dying, so even though one will survive, the others it will be touch and go. So at least you will have one kitten. Did you get a special formula for them at the vet and do you use an eyedropper to feed them? That is what we did with our dog when she was tiny because she was a runr and her mother abandoned her.

We have a bottle to feed the babies. Mom is probably no more than 7 months old, very young & inexperienced and sick. We raised a week old kitten 2 yrs ago, & have had the older litter since Monday - they are now about 2 weeks old. The question about being old, is will this kill ME!

Oh I'm sorry to hear that one of the little ones has gone to the Land Of Bast...I'm glad to hear at least one is thriving well...Not to be a pessimist but the other two might not make it...believe me..don't ask how many times I've had to watch litters die as usually they had respiratory problems, and you said the mom, Rose was kind of sickly?? Here's keeping my fingers crossed though that they do survive..keep us posted!!

Well, but they really haven't been exposed to mom, the vets wisked the babies away before mom could expose them. But they are so tiny, and mom isn't big so having 6 kittens they had to be small. I hope the last one makes it, but without siblings, the kitten expert says the chances go down.

Poor little thing, so sad. I fervently hope the other three will be fine. We still have candles lit and prayers lifted to the gods. Any news on the mom?

Mom is eating this afternoon after holding out this morning. We are going to be leaving her at the vet over the weekend because we don't want to take a chance of the infection spreading to the other cats/kittens.

Sorry to hear about your kitty. I know how hard it can be to lose a pet even if they are just newborn. Good luck with the others.

Momma cat hasn't even seen the kittens yet. The vet delivered them & wisked them away so they wouldn't get sick. Besides, she's so sick she doesn't have any milk or time to worry about kittens. She is eatting now, wasn't earlier. I'll just be happy if she comes home well, even if we have to hand rear her babies. She's a beautiful very young Siamese.

I am very sorry to hear that. still, it is the order of nature, and if 2 survive, you are doing well. My cat (long time ago now)had 2 litters, each with four, and only half survived. Sad, but some times it happens. My partners cat had 2 litters, four in each, and the little darlings all survived. She wasn't as much of a scatter brain as mine. Good luck with the rest of them. Kittens are sooooo cute. Wish I could have another, but still grieving my others here.
