I am attending a Halloween party this weekend and would love an idea for a spooky dish to bring. In the past I have brought chicken wings (made to look like bats), cupcakes with blood red filling, and mini pumpkin cheesecakse. This year I need a new idea that will both impress, but will also be easy on calories. The crowd this year is a lot more health concious. Your ideas will be much appreciated. Oh, and drink recipes (both alcoholic and non) are also welcome. Thanks everyone!

Here is a spooky idea to dress up your punch: Line a halloween mask with plastic wrap and put in in a pan, face down. You may need to use paper to help support it. Pour water or your punch mix in the mask and let it freeze. Let the face float in your punch bowl! You can do the same with food-quality rubber gloves to make hands to float around, too. Just tie them at the wrist and lay them flat on a pan. You can put some cornmeal under the gloves in the pan so they will have a little texure.

Wow! I've heard of the idea with the frozen hand before, but not with the halloween mask. That is really clever. Thank you so much for the idea.

I like to make chips and salsa for my holiday parties. You can use any kind of tortillas. Just take holiday themed cookie cutters and cut out the shapes. Then lightly spray the tortillas with cooking spray and bake in the oven till toasted. Then just make your salsa. It's cute, easy and inexpensive. Another thing you can do is pear ghosts. You just take some pears and dip them in melted white chocolate chips. Let them dry on wax paper. When they are dry, just dap on eyes with melted chocolate chips. The stems make it easy to dip them and as they dry the chocolate will settle into folds that look like ghostly sheet folds. Again, it is very easy, cute and a healthy treat too.

Have you tried a meal in a Pumpkin. You just buy a normal pumpkin and make a stew inside of it. The stew seasons the pumpkin and the pumpkin seasons the stew. Both taste great and it is very healthy.

No, I've never tried this. I have read about making a custard inside a pumpkin and wasn't too keen on the idea because I don't like custard. I will definately have to try this stew idea, even for after halloween. I bet it would be great for Thanksgiving.

we have a native dish here which can pass for a halloween recipe. its called "dinuguan" which comes from the root word "dugo" which is blood and the word "dinuguan" would mean blooded. ^__^ its basically cooked with pig's blood, internal organs and unusual parts like ears, tongue and tail. ^__^ it is usually black after cooking and you can add peppers to make it really hot. just its black appearance would make it appropriate for halloween. not to mention that it has internal organs which are basically the food for ghouls and monsters according to legends. ^__^;; but of course you wouldn't put whole intestines or whatever there, you will have to chop it of course. ^__^ im not really good at cooking it so you can look for its recipe in the net. ^__^

How about a bloody-red watermelon punch with whole lychees, made to look like eyes, mixed in. You can choose what to use for the "dark" part of the eyes, but you can try cherries or some darker fruit that would complement the red of the watermelon.

Http://www.bhg.com http://www.marthastewart.com http://www.kraftfoods.com all of these websites have great ideas for recipes of any kind. I'd say BHG and Martha Stewart would have the best for halloween ideas over krafts... but they all have some pretty awesome ideas.

Halloween Brain Dip INGREDIENTS * 2 avocados * 1/2 cup prepared salsa * 1 head cauliflower * 6 thin slices red and blue fruit leather DIRECTIONS 1. Slice the avocados in half. Remove the seeds and set aside. Scoop the avocado out of the skin into a bowl. Mash with a fork or whisk and stir in the salsa. Set aside. Slice off one side of each pit to make it flat and expose the cores of the pits. They will look like eyes. 2. Remove all of the leaves from the cauliflower and remove the stem, leaving a nice hollow area with the outer part of the head intact. Use toothpicks to hold it together if it starts to fall apart. 3. Place the cauliflower into a small bowl, so that the hollow is facing upwards and most of the cauliflower is up out of the bowl. The bowl is just for stability. Fill with the avocado dip and arrange the pits as eyes. Decorate the white ''brain'' by weaving thin strands of red and blue fruit leather between the florets to make veins and arteries. I wrap the bowl with cheesecloth and decorate with red food coloring to make it even more horrific! -------------------------------------------------- Halloween Cookies INGREDIENTS * 1 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour * 1/2 teaspoon salt * 1/2 teaspoon baking soda * 1/2 cup butter * 1/2 cup peanut butter * 1 cup packed brown sugar * 1 egg * 1 teaspoon vanilla extract number of stars READ REVIEWS (2) * Review/Rate This Recipe * Save To Recipe Box * Add to Shopping List * Add a Personal Note * Post a Recipe Photo * Post a Favorite Food List * Create a Menu DIRECTIONS 1.
