Do women watch more closely other women?

hmmm...I do watch...but not as closely as you suggest. If a woman looks good in something she wears...I do notice it and think it looks good on her. But that's it. I might also make a mental not of how she has accessorised to get some ideas. But I also know from experience that what looks good on one person might not look good on another person.Even when I am mentally appreciating what another woman is wearing, I know for a fact...that it is not my style or might not suit my personality and if I wore something similar I might end up looking like a scarecrow. If I know the person, I compliment them and let things be. But you are right, I do not watch what men wear...because it looks the same to me...and I also do not feel that my husband does it...but I can't say for sure...he probably does notice it (with men and women) and just does not discuss it with me. But he does point out and tell me when someone he DOES NOT like tries to strut around like a peacock!!I probably wouldn't even have noticed. By now, you would have realized that my husband and I are 'namoonas' and one of a kind:P

Hi pal, hope you're well? Interesting discussion you've started here hun! There is a saying that women don't dress up to impress men but mostly to impress other women. How often does a guy say to a woman, "Wow what a lovely handbag, where did you get it? How much was it? I want one just like it!"? This only comes from other women (in general). Unless of course, it's MY husband! He actually notices what other women are wearing when we go to parties way more than I notice (or even actually care) and then discusses it with me when we get home, even down to the extent of telling me if their jewellery was real gold or not hahaha! Honestly, it's so funny, even my friends think he's a bit too concerned about fashion. Then again, I am least concerned about that sort of thing so I guess someone in our household has to take notice!

u know,it's funny you asked,cause this month i wanted to buy myself some clothes and i couldn't decide what style to adopt..so i started checking out all the girls on the street,to see what's the fashion this autumn...but i usually don't do that... still,i often notice girls/women stearing at me,when i go out,it's frustrating for me,i can even imagine what they are thinking.. but on the other hand,i think men are quite attentive when it comes to girls also,and i noticed they are more attracted if the girl has nice accesories,maybe they dont realyse that,if you ask them what she was wearing maybe they wouldn't remember but the visual attraction is higher if the girl has nice clothes on:) and women tend to me mean and criticising when it comes to other women

Yes I have noticed this habit in most of the ladies, and I really hate this habit. They are so obsevant, specially about jewellery or costly sarees and dresses or arifical make-up that they are wearing.. etc........They can really make someone feel embarassed.......May be some ladies like it as they get lot of appreciation, but I am not observant type of person, nor I like anybody looking at me up and down as if I am some commidity.....For me this habit is as bad as any other bad manners.......One should appreciate and observe but their should be some grace in it, which is usually lacking in most of these extra observant females.

I sometimes observe woman and what they are wearing, especially if its nice. I often get ideas of what to match this with that.

Women are their own worst enemies. Women judge either other over everything. I don't understand why women are like this to other women. We as women should be supportive of our sisters but we aren't. We look at what they are wearing and make judgements. We look at how much makeup a woman wears and make judgements. We look at her car, her house, her spouse and even her kids and make judgements. Women look at whether a woman works or stay homes with her kids and we pass judgement. It is actually quite sad. Women worked so hard to have all the opportunities that we have and yet we are our own worst enemies.

At least in India I can say women do watch other women as to what saree she is wearing, how is her facial get up, what earrings she is wearing, what make up she has made, what slippers she is wearing, what purse she is carrying so and so forth. She tries to compare hereself with her and would like to assess whether she is higher than her or lower than her in status. A lot of chemistry will work there.

I don't know much about this Deepak.But I have come to know that you have watched women very very closely.

Most women are very self conscious and are always comparing themselves to other women. I know that I have done that. I'm not sure that men do that as much. A lot of men just seem to have high self esteem and think they are attractive (even when they are not lol).

Oh, this is definitely true. Women are in constant competition with other women whether they realize it or not. Most of the time there is no harm in it. It only becomes a problem when jealousy kicks in. I think that it is healthy for both sexes to watch and see what their peers are doing. The thing that bothers me is when a woman sees something on me and then goes out and buys the same thing to copy my style. That is not flattering to me. Especially, if she looks better in it than I do, LOL.

Honestly, I observed other women too, like when we are inside a ladies room and we got to do our make up there. I observed others while waiting for my turn on how they do their make up, what are the brand their using, what kind of dressing their wearing. I can choose from there what i think I like and i had accumulated an idea on how will i do with myself.

you are right deepak..its true and a recent survey too concluded that women watch other women very closely specially when they are wearing attractive accessories..One particular reason may be that women use more make up and accessories which men dont do..hence other women take a look at those women to note down the accessories and style of dressing.. I too look at women who dress well..afterall they look beautiful when dressed neatly..but same time hate to see some women wearing dresses that doesnt suit them which is the one i look very close..and pass comments inside my mind..

There is no controversy in your question because it is an inherent quality in every woman and even with you and me.

hi! yeah u r right-womem do watch other women for clothes,sandals,hair,jewellery,etc and compare it with themselves-these are not all they watch out for in other woman,some even look at the figures,especially boobs- u know women are quite competetive abt the size u know!

Women watch very keenly all about wear, julary & shoes.

i think most of the women do so. it is by the nature of women, i have seen they are more interested about the dresses, accessories health of other women.so they look at it when they see someone else.

Yes, a woman empowers another woman. Other women just plainly teach me. They serve as my models. Fashion, accessories, gestures, and how I carry my self!

Me, im more watch closely woman than to a man. Not like to a typical man that commonly watch woman than to there same gender. Woman watch woman in many and different reasons. One because they like to see if what clothes and accessories are usually woman wear. Second, curious and not satisfied of there looks and keep comparing thereself to the same gender they looking at. Third, Simply making a critisize look by raising there left eyebrow.LOl! Fourth, they certainly looks the part of other woman if it is better to compared with them. Like for example the butt, boobs, skin,belly and etc....

Yes and only because we also get fashion ideas on how to match and thats how styles begin too. Once you see it everywhere you want to start wearing the same clothes too. I always like to look at girls make up style and their hair. Eventhough not everything you see looks good on you, i guess its worth trying it on yourself and if you like it then it was a lot cheaper then trying to guess at the salon what hair style to do.
