well, having my birthday on a day like saturday or sunday... or on a day when there is no work, makes it special already... it means, i can just take a day off to enjoy another year. plus, i always have a birthday dinner with my friends and family... and just simply hang out and talk... i am interested in your own answer to your question

Those certainly seem to be sure ways of having happy birthdays, shiloh. As to my answer, only two words--complete family. Thanks a lot for your usual sensible post and Happy myLotting! ;)

Hello shiloh! OffT: For some reason, your post reminded me of The Sound of Music, particularly the scene where the eldest among the von Trapp kids was singing "I am sixteen...going on seventeen..." ;) OnT: Perhaps it's safe to say that it must have really been a very pleasant surprise birthday bash, right? In response to your question, perhaps I could consider my 7th birthday as my most memorable one. There's nothing really special about it, but we were complete then and I truly enjoyed the fun games and invitingly delicious food they prepared for me. Thanks a lot for sharing a piece of your mind and Happy myLotting! ;)

well a birthday can be a happy one depends on how would you like it to be happy. i go to church to thank God, for being alive. that makes a good birthday already. together with my hubby it makes a wonderful birthday already and now we have a 21 month old child and it makes it perfect. some people go for extravagant gifts to make themselves happy, but if you will just look around and appreciate live then you will realize that simple things can really makes us happy.

I must agree with your keen statement that "a birthday can be a happy one," depending on how you would like it to be happy. Your personal reasons to make your birthday happy, I feel, are really valid ones, and I must say that you're very much correct in clearly pointing out that "simple things can really make us happy." Thanks a lot for openly sharing your birthday experience and may you have more happy birthdays to come! Happy myLotting, noriko! ;)

For me, it is a happy birthday if it doesn't snow. I get to have my favorite cake. We get to go Uno's for dinner. And either there is a hockey game or one of my favorite films to see.On my last birthday everything worked out. My birthday is in January so there could be snow, but there was no snow. Yea! I got my favorite cake, a yellow cake with white buttercream frosting. We got to go to Uno's and I got to see Casablanca.

Uno's is a restaurant chain that started in Chicago. I live in the East and in my city, there are about two or three Uno's restaurants.I don't know if they are in the West ,but I would think so.

I'm really glad that everything worked out for you, sarahruthbeth. Having your favorite "yellow cake with whitebuttercream frosting" and getting to see Casablance would have surely been a nice treat for you. If I may ask, though, where is Uno's located? Thanks a lot and Happy myLotting! ;)

Birthdays will not be happy if you're all alone singing happy birthday to yourself. You might just sing Lonely birthday to me then. Family and friends makes a birthday happy. Specially when there is a lot of food and beverages on your table. That's the only time you can sing HAPPY Birthday to yourself.

That's certainly a very good point, cnergy_14. After all, celebrating your birthday by your lonesome could indeed be terribly unhappy. Thanks a lot for your much appreciated contribution to this discussion and Happy myLotting! ;)

Well, my birthdays are happy because I make them happy, but my 22nd was not all that happy because it had only been a few months since I lost my brother.

I'm truly sorry for what happened to your brother, rogue13xmen13. I just have a question about your statement, "my birthdays are happy because I make them happy." In what way do you make your birthdays happy? Thanks a lot in advance for graciously responding to my question and Happy myLotting! ;)

I recently celebrated my birthday and it surely was a happy one. It was because my family and friends and even acquaintances have remembered me on my birthday. I have celebrated it with whole week full of greetings and well-wishes from family, friends and acquaintances. My birthdays will always surely be happy because it means that God has blessed me with additional years to live here on earth. That reason alone is enough for me to be happy on my birthday! :-)

Birthdays are always happy. Except maybe if there are unforeseen events that happened before your birthday but it is usually happy. Family and friends makes a person's birthday happy.

Hi acmepride! Birthdays are really fun and special especially when you are celebrating it with loved ones. My eldest niece's birthday is coming up and she will be turning 12. I have asked her before what would make her happy on her birthday and she told me that she wants me to buy her a dress and that we will eat at her favorite restaurant just the two of us. Well, it is a date and I have already marked November 12 on my calendar because I will be spending my day with her. Take care and have a nice day.

Acmepride, birthdays should be a happy one. Your immediate family makes it a happy one. But of course, the birthday celebrant should be the happiest because another year has come!

My birthday falls on a holiday so it's great that there's no work for most of the people that I celebrate my birthday with. I usually celebrate my birthday with my special someone and my family -- including my extended family because I share my birthday with one of my aunts. We usually just have dinner at our place or hers. I do tend to have "extended" birthday celebrations because I have various groups of friends that I go out with. My special someone and I go out the night before my birthday so that he's with me by the time the clock strikes 12. Then he's also with me the next day when I celebrate with my family. And then I'll be going to the beach the same month and treat people to drinks because it's my birth month. I also go out with friends from high school, from college (I also share my birthday with one of my best friends), and from my previous job. But when we go out, expenses are usually shared by birthday celebrants of the same month. I guess what makes my birthday a happy one is sharing it with family and friends, and knowing that there are people who care enough about you to celebrate another year of life with you.

A person who loves himself, will be happy to celebrate his birthday and invite friends and relatives, have a good get together and receive good lot of gifts, greetings. The party is also a memorable one because it cannot happen everyday, it is only once a year. SEcondly, if a person is arranging a brithday party of his/her children or husband/wife, it is even more happier occasion.

Very good point, musicman6. Seeing a fellow human being reach another milestone in his/her life could really make anyone happy, especially if the birthday celebrant is with his/her loved ones to celebrate a very special day in his/her life. Thanks a lot for sharing your views and Happy myLotting! ;)

Hello again acmepride!! It has always been a happy birthday for me even if we there were times wherein they have forgotten my birthday because it happened to be my uncle's wedding day so everyone else where busy, but laer that night they've finally remembered... i was still very happy because i'm surrounded with people whom i loved and who's always been there for me... usually i would prepare food for my family and invite friends over to join the celebration... heheh how about you? tc

It is a happy birthday for me because my existence on earth is a blessing from God for me to stay happy! Every individual, I believe, is blessed by the love of God. God's love is worth my happiness. That is why every year I look forward for a happy birthday celebration.

well unfort its not my birthday :( but... when it is its usually raining or snowing! lol its in April so it tends to be a fickle month one year thos - so far as i remember - it was 80 and we went to the beach!!! LOVED IT! had a picnic!! and dipped our toes in the water!! i love the beach! What makes it special or a happy for me?... well most times im worried about being another year older and i tend to mope around for a day or so before but..... LOVE just doing something i havent done before no matter how *silly* it may seem lol REALIZING THAT ITS NOT THE YEARS but the people and wisdom im gaining with each passing one that i focuse on more! not always easy to do something when our bdays all fall in a row! dec, feb, march & april!! lol drains the wallet! :) xx

A beach birthday party seems really enjoyable and it would perfectly be understandable why it made you happy, bizmom. "REALIZING THAT ITS NOT THE YEARS but the people and wisdom im gaining with each passing one that i focuse on more," to my mind, is undeniably a very good realization. However, I must agree with you that birthday celebrations tend to drain the wallet. But, heck, the money you spend for a happily enjoyable one is very much worth it. Thanks a lot for sharing your wonderful birthday experience and realization! Happy myLotting, bizmom! ;)
