You can also have your browser block cookies from getting to you. Look at the results of an anti spyware scan, the log. Or keep track of what popups are showing up (usually they have some web address to them). And then you can get an idea of where the tracking cookies are coming from. If you put your browser to never allow cookies from these specific sites, you should be able to never get them again. Of course some of these sites use proxy and proxy addresses so you'll have to watch out for those too.

tracking cookies aren't dangerous for your pc in general..you must think that they are only text file..infact if you open some of them you can read in the text format wich kind of site they come from... surely if you want an high privacy setting when you surfing the net tracking cookies are not as so..such they install in your computer and tell to sites where do u come from your ip and so on..you can disable them from your browser configuration in this way everytime a tracking cookie is detected you can decide to allow it or reject it in real time!! sometimes is better that you clead your pc in this way you havemore free space on your disk and the delention of them aren't dangerous or create conflicts with other objects on your computer!! surely everything about cookies, active x,javescript, flash, you can pick during your surfing aren't good for an high privacy during your surfing as well!!but i think that you are interested to know if they are a kind of malaware(so no)!!:) if you have a software which detect objects on your computer for your privacy safe surely it will detect many of them just delete and stop or re-set your browser configuration!
