So alot of people say I support our troops and not the war, others say if you support the troops then you support the war, What is your take on this? I personaly think you can support the troops and not support the war, the troops are just doing there job, they don;t have a choice when it comes to war, you are given orders which say you are being deployed to Iraq from this date to this time frame and thats it. My husband is a Marine about to go on his second Iraq deployment and I support him 110%.

actually I disagree with you there was troops way before the war, the troops are not there just to go to war, they are there to protect us and our freedom, freedom for the country we live and and freedom of speech and you have my husband to thank for that

I don't support any war, no matter the arguments and the implications that many of today's world improvement came from the war - as a consequence sometimes. But the fact that I don't support the war doesn't mean that I don't understand that it happens, and will happen regardless of my disapproving of it :) Humans are just that, humans and I don't think war could be avoided. THe troops need everyone's support regardless of our views on war. They're doing their job and at a high risk.MOst of the time they do it because they believe in what they're doing - which is more than what can be said about lots of people. Sure in my ideal world there would be no need for that, but this is not an ideal world and it will never be.

I support him %110 too. I am anti war and wish we didn't have to fight but the reality is that we are and someone has to do it and I am glad it isn't me. I have friends in the military and I know what they go through and the things they witness aren't pretty at all. So although I may not agree with the war I do support the men, women and families of the military around the world. Without them we would be in a pretty scary world.

"someone has to do it" - well no they dont "without them we would be in a pretty scary place"- common mistake, its actually because of THEM the world IS a scary place wake up people just because the man says its ok to kill innocent men ,women and children doenst make it right.

I support both. We must stop outsiders from killing us. They have been killing us for years and we have to draw a line in the sand to let them know we dont stand for it.

This is a passive agressive world. If we are passive, the agressive will take over.

I beleive you can support the troops and not the war. but i support our troops and support the war. I dont see how you cannot support somthing that is being done for you...for you not to appreciate and support the ones that are fighting and loosing their lives for you. is just plain selfishness in my eyes. i live in a town with three diffrent marine corpse bases, i think that if schools taught more on the military more people would appreciate it..when i was in school i learnd barley anything about our militart so i wasnt effected by anything that was said . take for instance when the towers went down i was in school,we watched it on tv. and all i could say was wow that sucks~ and that was it.. i never knew what out military had to endure and the way the have to live their lives. untill i came here. now i am fully aware what they do and do for me...Yes i support our tropps and the war.. becasue the war is to keep me and my people safe from harms way

I absolutely agree that you can support the troops but not the war. I support the fact that our troops are fulfilling their duties of what they signed up for. They are obeying orders exactly as they are demaned to do, and are the bravest of people for putting themselves at danger to war. I do not however believe that the war is a worthwhile cause of all the lost lives, on both sides. Our innocent soldiers die, their innocent civilians die. It is a lose-lose situation for everyone.

Any country if it wants to defend itself from external agression or internal emergency reasons maintains troops. It does not mean that maintaining the troops is for waging wars!! Making or buying war planes is for bombbarding a place with bombs. I feel one should support the troops and one should not support the ongoing war, because it is not justifiable.

I feel it is just like the presidency. You may not have voted for who was in office, but once he is in office, you should support him as the leader of our country. Our military are special people, people who feel called to defend our values and our country so those of us at home can live like we do.

I support the troops, but not the war. I think the war is wrong and we should never have gone there, but the individual troops aren't the ones who made the decision. And now with the state Iraq is in, we really have no ethical choice but to stay now. They're people with a difficult and dangerous job and they're all doing it to the best of their ability and deserve to be respected and supported for that. I don't wish them any harm, I pray that every one of them comes home safely.

I support the men and women who voluntarily signed up to serve or nation and protect it. I support all of the noble and good things they do for this country. I do not support a war that has continued for 4 1/2 years AFTER it was declared to be "over". I do not support keeping our troops fighting in another country's civil war. I do not support a war that was started under false pretenses and that took resources away from the war we should have been fighting.

I always support our troops. I may not agree with the war or even think that we should be in Iraq, but I will not take those feelings out on our troops. I think that they are some of the bravest and strongest men and women alive. They do a job that I am not brave enough to do. I always see veterans with hats and tops that say "Freedom is not Free" and that is always a reminder that we enjoy so many freedom in the USA because of people like our troops. The general public didn't go out there fight for our freedoms, our troops did. We owe it to them to be there to support them, welcome them with open arms, give them help when they need it. I just bought a sweatshirt from a catalog that says "Home of the Free, Because of the Brave". I plan to wear it every time I go to the airport this winter to welcome home our troops. I have several cousins who were and are Marines. I have a brother-in-law who is a Marine. We have a few Army guys too in the family. I look at all these men and women in our armed forces and I see heros. They should be treated like heros no matter what anyone feels in regards to the war.

I'm with you...It's their job. It's so upsetting that our troops are having to go through so much. Anyone who doesn't support them shouldn't be able to call themselves an American. I can't say I'm for whats going on over there but the families it's effecting, they deserve all the support they can get from anyone and everyone. I do support your husband and I will be praying for his safe return... Bless you and your family!

You have to admire men and women who are willing to put their lives on the line so we can sit here in our safe lil' houses and pontificate about who's right. Support our troops! I've got family and friends there. And I know a lot of vets. I'm proud of all of them.

I support your husband and all the rest of our troops 110% too! Thank you for saying we can support the troops but still be against the war because there have been so many in the media saying that isn't possible and I know it is! I mean, I support and respect what they are doing as individuals, I know they don't have a choice, they're following orders and my heart goes out to them and their families every second of every day and I pray for them to come home safely soon! Prayers and hugs to you all! Annie

thanks for supporting my husband, at first I supported the war, it's one on the main reasons why my husband went back on active duty, but I think we have been there far to long and I think that they really need to pull out soon, perferably before my husband goes back there for a second time

There are a lot of reasons for people to join the military. Not just for the honor of it, not just for the chance to keep America safe. Some join because it's their only chance to get the education they need. Others to have a job and a paycheck. What ever their reason is, it is their JOB, their duty, to follow the orders they are given by their commander. They did not start the wars, nor can they say when it's over and time to come home. I am a tree hugging, peace loving hippy. I do not support war, any war. But I support those who fight to keep the bad guys from killing innocent people. SoDamn Insane wasn't being very nice to his people and the troops stopped him. Now if only the could find Bin Forgotten. There wouldn't have to be as much war if the only ones who needed to die were those at fault, those that stomp on the little guys. This is just how a child of two Navy Dads feels about things. I love my vets and think they should be better taken care of. It makes me sad that so many are coming back and not being cared for. May your loved ones come home safe and soon.
