My friend has been throwing up since saturday. She can't even keep water down so I'm staying far away from her! It must be terrible to have a vomiting bug like that. How many of you have had the vomiting bug? What was your diagnosis and how long did it last for?

Your poor friend! If she's still throwing up tomorrow, insist that she goes to the hospital, because you can get severely dehydrated very quickly if you can't keep fluids down.

I did have a bug like this a couple of years ago. It was spreading around our town like wildfire! In our house it was my hubby that brought it home and he got it from a co-worker. Unlike my hubby I didn't go to the doctor. I'm not one to take antibiotics unless I absolutely have too. Plus I don't think I could have really made it to the doctors without vomiting everywhere. I just stayed in bed, drank plenty of fluids, vomited, until it passed a couple of days later. I hope she's feeling better though! I'm really backed up on my mylotting - as you can see. So please have patience :) I'll get caught up eventually LOL.

Vomitting - A 14th Century depiction of vomitting
I rarely get the vomiting bug. If I do it would only last for 12 to 24 hours. Many years ago I had food poisoning, & that lasts for days. I even had reoccurance of food poisoning for 2 years after. The vomiting bug shouldn't last much longer than three days. Your friend should make sure she is having plenty of fluids. The vomiting bug is highly contagious, so stay away from your friend.

I sympathize greatly! A couple years ago the doctors put me on steroids. I gained 50 pounds! I felt so huge, and had no clue how I would lose the weight. A few weeks after being off the steroids, I started vomiting. I couldn't keep food down, I couldn't keep water or gatorade down, nothing would stay down. I was in the hospital 4 times in three months for dehydration. In a three month span I lost 80 pounds. I don't know why I had that vomiting bug, and no one could tell me, but I learned one thing, be careful what you wish for!

Tonic water is mean't to be good for vomiting although i have never tried it myself, this came from a naturopath. Good luck with your friend, hope she stops soon.

I think your friend needs to see the doctor. She could have a form of food posioning..Maybe she needs to vomit to get it all out of her system.I have never had a bug like this but i do know that it can be cused by something she ate or an infection.I do not think you should be afraid of her, just help her by giving her a wet cloth to wipe her face.I bet she just feels awful...

When I get sick I don't normally vomit. Which basically rocks. Last Christmas someone in my family had a bug that they passed on to everyone and I spent the night after christmas over the toilet as well as most of that next day. I couldn't drink water as well. Like no matter what I did it wouldn't stay down. Fortunately by that afternoon I was good. I never went to the doctor so I just know it was a bug.

Oh your poor friend! Do you think it's from something she ate? Could be food poisoning or not cooked right. She needs to drink gatorade to replenish her bodily fluids for she's no doubt dehydrated. Also ginerale will help settle her stomach. I hope she gets better soon.

The last time I vomited like that, I had an intestinal obstruction that almost killed me... does she have a bug for sure? Find out if her intestines are making any noise... if not, she needs to get to a hospital, fast!
