Was I asleep and dream this, because I swear I was awake when this happened?

This is how it seems to have happened. I woke up to a sound of a child in my room. When I opened my eyes, I saw a child that was not mine walking from my bed to the bedroom door. The child stopped looked back at me, and giggled, then left the room and shut the door. I was out of bed in a heartbeat, and tried to follow the child. By the time I made it to the bedroom door, there was no giggle, no child. All doors and windows were locked, and my own children were all fast asleep. Now because this happened at night, I could have dreamed this, but if that is the case, when did I actually wake up. I know my bedroom door was partially ajar when I went to bed, so if this is a dream, who closed the door? If this wasn't a dream, and this isn't one of my children, is it a spirit? The only thing different in routine on this night is the cat didn't want to come inside. The cat usaully sleeps on my hip or belly all night, but that night, he just wouldn't come in the house. Also come evening, the cat won't leave my room, like he is protecting it from something. He will sit right inside the door of my room until I go to bed, then he hops up and curls up on my hip, or tummy

Cats do have a sixth sense about that sort of thing. Maybe... I have never had that sort of thing happen to me before however I have seen some weird things that couldn't be explaned any other way then it must have been a spirit. Lets just hope it's a one time thing and not a haunting. If it is a constant spirit at least all you got was a child that giggles. My husband's old house had a ghost that pushed people down stairs. For real a lot of people felt it.

well a child that giggles and wakes me up at odd hours of the night is still a problem. I have 4 kids and I have to be up in the morning, and usually don't get to bed till midnight or so. But so long as he is only bothering me and not the kids.

whooo that is kind of crazy... but things like that do happen.. it very well could have been a spirit.. and your cat could have known something was there animals do sense things like that. i will tell you this i talk to one of my friends online using my web cam and she has totally freaked out on me a few times because she has seen someone behind me. the only person i can think it could be is a friend of mine was killed in a car accident out front of my home he actually ran into the kitchen with his car and passed away outside of my window. almost on a daily basis my front door will open by itself we will hear noises in the kitchen. we are getting used to it. we joke about it by saying well he must want to go outside or come in.. but it is still scary sometimes. i have talked to a few people about the happenings hear and they just tell me to say it is time to go home now.. but i havent done that i believe if he wants to leave he will. in your case if this child appears again and it is bothering you then maybe you should just tell him/her it is time to go home now.. see what happens or if it happens again... good luck..

Very interesting. I've had a similar experience too. I woke up and saw two pubescent boys at the foot of my bed, standing and looking at me. The details of my room were accurate and I don't remember waking up from that dream (if it was a dream). Glad to know I'm not the only one with such an experience.
