My wife and I currently stopped smoking and I know I am doing well with it. I have been smoking for 11 years and always thought I would have the roughest time. I knew I wanted to quit before I started having kids but this year once the temperature started to change and my sinuses began to act up I was able to go a few days fine. I took that to the next step and stopped all together. Even though it wasn't as hard as I thought, I knew it is still taking a lot of mental power to stay away. It would be so easy to go back to it. Who else would share how you deal with smoking?

If you have this urge and motivation to quit smoking, then I believe you can make it. It needs effort and sacrifices in order for you to successfully quit. I advised that you should consult a physician so that you will be prescribed a medication for smoking cessation. There are some effective medicines that you can take in order for you to quit smoking. Have a nice day!

I appreciate your faith, but I would rahter not use medication if I don't have too. Plus I don't have medical insurance to go to a doctor. I am still doing well so maybe I'll make it with out the meds. Thank you.

It's not easy to quit smoking as I know. I am still smoking and my partner gave up a couple of months ago. He got some tablets from his doctor, they are called "Zyaban" here in Australia. You can still smoke with them and you gradually get the urge not to smoke, of course you need a lot of willpower too. I am so very proud of him as he was almost a chain smoker. I know I can do it too, as I have given up twice before both times for 4 years. I just need to be in the right frame of mind. I think willpower and frame of mind are a lot to do with giving up. Good luck in quitting.

I don't like the idea of still smoking while quiting. With medicine. I am not sure if that would be for me. I wish you well to your quest at quiting.

I am in the process of trying to quit smoking now. I started smoking really young and haven't quit, really quit, for any significant length of time until now. I am using nicotine patches. A lot of water to flush the body of the toxins faster and chewing lots of sugar free gum. Though you have to watchit with the gum or all of the sorbitol or aspertame will give you the trotts! I am managing a day at a time sometimes a craving at a time. I have been smoking for a lot longer than you did, throughout my teens, my twenties, and half of my thirties so the habit is pretty well ingrained. I am glad that you managed to quit though. You haven't started back have you because this discussion is a couple of years old?

I think that is a good news that you both are stop smoking. Because it is good to your health and to your husband health. Specially, it is also good to all people surround you.

My dad had smoked for a very long time. He quit it a few years ago. It was not easy at all. When my dad felt like smoking, then he went to do housework. So he would feel a little better. This is his trick and finally he got rid of smoking successfully. So I hope this will help you.
