I always go for free..Free Parking is just an example. But what i dont understand is that. They put up some signs like free parking and then after that they will come and ask you some dollars for the parking...Crazy isnt it.. Free means Free.. do you agree??

In my place, there are lots of free parking, I do find some rogues straying around and asking for some money for the parking in these areas. This normally happened during the festive seasons when the parking areas are quite congested. I dislike their behaviors and I always try to park my car in another place where no such bad eggs found, even though it is a bit far from my destination.

I agree with you,ayou82.If it is free , all the the signs should be free,no reason to take charge!

Is the person who collect the fee is from the authorities? If not, then they are collecting for their personal income. This happen at my place. It's off working hour and the parking should be free. But there are some local people come collect the parking fee from those who parked their cars in the parking lot. May be the so-called free parking at your side doesn't mean 'free of charge'. But it just means, you are 'free-to-park-anywhere'.

Free should definitely be that FREE. Therefore I would be very suspicious about anyone asking for money. I no they say nothing in this life is free but when it comes to parking if the sign says free then free it should be!

This does sound odd? But I am from a small village and I went to Washington DC and stayed by the White House area in Chinatown. To tell the truth I went with my wife and it was on a Friday afternoon and the worst time you could drive in DC and of course we drove very slow to get by the main attraction. The White House. So my wife was so mad I stopped in China Town at the Comfort Inn and it was only $ 50.00 (now it would be tripple?_) but they also made me pay for inside parking as the car was not safe to be parked on the street. So I paid anothe $ 11.00 to park inside parking, but my wife called her friends and they told me that was the worst place to stay as its a bad neighborhood..so I told my wife I don't care as I am tired and not going out in that traffic..so the friend told us they would pay for our taxi fare and DC it has no meter but by zone..and it was only $10.00 and when we go to my wife's friends apartment we ate and drank a lot as it was a hot hot day in July but they gave us a ride back and the women handed my wife a $100.00 ..but my wife gave it back..both my wife and her friend were used to dealing in Japanese Yen and Philippine Pesos..so to them 100 dollars did not seem much..but they soon learned...lol. But Free should be free..gratuities should not be forced on people under false prenenses. Most large cities like in the US charge outrageous parking fees and worst case if you park illegal the fines and towning are out of this world..believe this or not..that is why I like to stay home and live in a small village. Free parking. lol. In Japan you can't even buy a car unless you can prove you have a parking garage. Very expensive. They don't take tips..but they get it in the service fee that is added to the bill. Eduation is expensive.lol
