I can't buy kid sized food without a kid?!?

Today I decided to go and get a nice cool snack to cool off(in November, lol), and went by my local ice cream shop. As this was just a snack, I wanted a smaller size, so I ordered a kid cone. The man at the register told me that they can only accept child-sized orders when a child is present in the store to receive it. I'm pretty sure I had a goofy look on my face at the time. I could not believe what he just said. Why in the world could I not order a small cone? Why did I have to buy a large, meal sized cone that I didn't want? I wanted a snack. Should it even matter? But then I realized why. It's because the ice cream shop is next to a college, and that is a great way to rip off students. Tell them they can't buy the cheapest thing on the menu. Shame, ice cream shop, shame. Has anyone else had something like this happen to them? Go to a restaurant and be told you can't order off the kids' menu without a kid?

LMAO. That is weird and stupid to tell you the truth. I've gone to mcdonald and ordered happy meals and they didn't come to me with that stupid crap. It is a shame that people have to do stuff like that. I mean the guy should think that if he has you as a customer you'll be happy and come back and buy more ice cream and probably bring your family too which will be a positive impact on him.
