I have a family history of diabetes. I dont want to end up with this myself. I want to take proper steps to keep me from getting diabetes. I know exercise and diet are very important factors in prevention of diabetes. However I was wondering if anyone knows whether or not it is totally preventable or if its a family gene will I get them anyway? Thanks in advance for all responses.

I think now it could be prevented if you stick on a healthy lifestyle. I think your being aware of your family history might prolong your being healthy as well. But again as time goes by and your age do go older the risks will always be there and eventually your body might succumb to it. The only thing you could do is to stay on top of eveything when it comes to your health. While you are still young and strong do not abuse your body from failing you meaning you eat right, exercise, sleep well and be emotionally happy(as stress can be a contributing factor for diabetes).
