I want to wear jeans or pants that have side pockets because I usually put my hanky in them. Other than hanky no more. I don't want to put wallet, coin purse, cell phone or other things in my pockets. They're just for hanky. I know some who wants to wear pants or jeans that have lots of pockets because they put almost everything in them - comb, booklets, wallets, cellphone, coin purse, pens, a pocket mirror, toothpick and I don't know what else... What about you?

When I worked in a big city, I had a tailor put hidden pockets inside my dress suit, and that is where I carried my wallet, as I found that in the business world a handbag was detrimental to a woman's performance, at least in my line of work. But one time two street ruffians came up one on each side of me and demanded money when I was walking from the office to my car. Now in general I never carry cash with me, but on this occasion I had $300 USD I had just gotten in a cash bonus. This was embarrassing but these two actually sort of frisked me right there on the street. They found a few coins in my pocket and sneeringly handed them back to me, saying this one has nothing of value and then I guess they went off looking for a better victim. Now we are retired and I live in shorts, which must have nice pockets because I am in the habit of not carrying a handbag and always carry as you say, a hanky, and also lip gloss, keys, wallet, and everything else is stored electronically in my PDA which is tethered to a pocket in case I bend over and it falls out. This has happened.

i'd like to say that your dress suit have save you from those mean people. It's good that they did not harm you finding that you don't have money with you. in my country, if these kind of people found nothing from you, they'll still harm you.

Here, too, it is a miracle they did no harm, but an even greater miracle they did not find the wallet because I think from the looks in those people's eyes had they found the credit cards in there I would indeed have come to some harm as if they had taken them probably they would have felt it necessary to get me out of the way. Since they found nothing and dismissed me as worthless to them, they apparently did not care one way or another. There is no amount of money anyone could pay me to ever again work in a large city, not anywhere in the world.

I remember Alanis Morissette's song, Hand in my Pocket, as I read this post of your's!LoL Well aside from money and, I have also have my keys and my trusted cellphone!;) I don't bring any wallet if not needed, since I am not sure when and where will I lose it. I also spread the money on two of my front pockets, just in-case I lose some I know that there's still a spare change on my other pocket!;) As the song goes, "cause I got one hand in my pocket and the other one is giving a PEACE sign!";)

When I am going out I don’t like to carry a handbag with me. I consider it as a burden to me, to hold something while hanging around. So I like wear jeans with more pockets all the time. The front left pocket is for my wallet whereas the front right pocket is reserved for my cell phone. One of the back pockets is for tissue paper and the other is for the keys.

now i can figure out what most people put in their pocket/s - cellphone, wallet, keys, tissue or hanky, the most. we cannot really do away with pockets huh!

I start every day with nothing in my pockets. Somehow by the end of the day, though, they tend to get filled up. The first thing that goes in is my cell phone, as I realize I need to keep it close by for an important phone call I'm expecting. Then my keys usually get slipped in there if I am in a store and just don't feel comfortable having my keys in my purse. (I know, I'm strange). Usually some recipts get shoved in my pockets as I feel the person behind me in line is in too much of a hurry to wait for me to get my things put back in my purse they way I would like. Lastly, papers of all sorts get put in my pockets as I am cleaning the house and make notes to myself or pick up papers off the counter that have important dates that I want to put on the calendar later or whatever. Wow, my day sounds exhausting and I just rolled out of bed! LOL

Well, that's kind of how everything gets back in my pockets again. At the end of the day sometimes I'll just throw everything on my desk when I'm undressing. Then as I'm dressing again I realize that I need it, so back in my pockets it goes. It's a very nasty cycle! LOL

I have found that throughout the day at some point my cell phone moves from my purse to my pocket. It's easier to get to when I need it to make a call or when it rings. I also use it at a clock, so having it in my pocket just makes it convinient.
