learning to skate

When children are learning to skate they often use a metal walker type of idea that they hold on to and push around the ice. Well after my daughter had let her daughter use it she loaded it in her van and it wasn't till much later on did she notice the darn thing left rust spots on the floor of the van. How do you remove rust from carpet? Any ideas? Thank You for all responses.

Saturate the entire stain with lemon juice and let sit for up to 10 minutes depending on how bad the stain is. Don't let it set for longer than that or it can ruin the upholstery from the acid in the juice. Then blot the stain with a dry towel....but do not rub in. Just gently blot over and over. Please use a white towel or paper towels. Because you don't want colors from the towel to run in to the upholstery in your vehicle. Lemon juice is very strong and I do'nt know how strong the dyes in your towels are. If the lemon juice doesn't work, try to put a little dish detergent on it and spritzing water on it. Blot again and again, the take the spray bottle with water in it and keep spritzing and blotting until the stain is gone.

CLR works wonders on removing rust. But, remember to use gloves when using this product. I had a rust stain on one of my favorite dresses that I wore to work. The stain had been on there for months. I used the CLR to to treat the stain and it washed out completely. I was amazed.

Yikes... there are rust removers in stores. I know that RIT (the company that sells clothing dye) used to sell a detergent that was just for removing rust. YOu might be able to mix it with warm water and use a towel or rag to scrub up the carpet. That being said... I was put in ice skates at the age of 3. They didn't make us use walkers back then... why would kids need those contraptions now?

I worked for a cleaning company that had a chemical to remove rust from carpet. You would put it on the rust and the rust would just disappear. You can't buy the stuff in the stores. I would first check in the carpet and flooring dept. at a home improvement store, like Lowes or Home Depot and see if they have something. I would call on the phone. If they don't have something you can always check at a carpet store, hey might know something that would work. If that fails, try a carpet cleaning or water damage cleaning company. Good luck, rust is easy to get out as long as you have the right chemical.

I would see if maybe lime away or clr or oxy clean would work on the rust stains. I am not sure if it would work, but it may be worth at least checking the labels on it.
