lipstick with lead content...girls beware!

I recieved an e-mail message from a dear friend about lipsticks that contain lead which causes cancer. I was astonished to fund in the lsit all those brands popular to most of us girls. According to the message, the longer the lipstick stays on our lips the higher it contains lead. And to test if your brand of lipstick contains lead, simply put a small portion on your palm. Scratch it with a gold ring. If the color of the lipstick turn into black, then it contain lead. So what is the brand of your lipstick? Is it safe?

I hardly use any lipstick but I love lip glosses:P As for how using lipstick can cause cacer i wouldn't be concerned by that. You know that saying: "Life is lethal", right? I think some people have too much time and find cancer causes everywhere. I assure you that most of the food we eat these days may cause cancer but it doesn't mean we will have one. So stay optimistic;)

I know about this, that is why I hound cosmetic companies when buying lipstick, or I will not buy or wear lipstick at all. I used to work for Mary Kay, and luckily they did not have those things in their lipstick, Avon and Bare Minerals do not have anything in their lipstick either, again, I asked and I checked, but these products that you purchase at the stores cannot be trusted.

From the list that was given here, I can say that I do not wear any of the ones that contain lead. This is not to say that the ones that I do wear do not contain lead, they just don't have them listed. I just hope that one day things will get better and people will realize that there are harmful things in everything we eat and use, but we've just got to be careful about how much we use these things. Take care, ~~Taz~~

That's right! People should have concerns with others. Not just ofr their own sake.

I do not wear lipstick much lately, but the gold ring test is a good one to know. Lead does not necessarily cause cancer, it can accumulate in your fatty tissues and liver and cause lead poisoning. Putting it there on your lips is putting it someplace it can be easily absorbed by the mucous membrane inside your mouth. We have things to worry about everywhere we turn it seems.

What I want to know is, which brand lipsticks contain lead? I guess I can try out your method of testing our lipsticks we already own. I would like to know for future reference. Usually I buy Avon lipstick.

I rarely uses lipsticks as am not that type of persons who wears makeups. Maybe was not brought up that way anyway is should have stopped using it even if i was using lip sticks before also. But what i was aware of was that all the cosmetics contains chemicals which have some disadvantages for the long run so, i try not to use them. Anyway Izathewzia thanks for those information i hope many have been made aware by you. Happy mylotting
