I know some friends of mine who have an eating disorder.they don't know how to live happily and sensefully so they spent most time on computer and computer games ,they always forget eating ,when they are too tired ,they just eat some fast food and have 3 hours rest ,then go on the computer games. I think the best way to get over it is make them know and take the responsibility of life and make them overcome the bad habit .

If the computer games mean a lot to them your friends are doing harm to themselves by forgetting to eat. Fast food is not healthy stuff to eat. Yes, I hope they get over this bad habit. Thanks for sharing.

A cousin of mine has one. I mean, it's not one of those super severe cases in which the person is about to die and beyond scrawny. However, she has a disorder. She always does weird things with food, only eats a few types of food and eats special pills and stuff. She is obsessed and i think that's enough to say she has an eating disorder.

Hi,well i dont know if its a eating disorder but my mom hardly ever eats,is 56 years old and weighs 92 lbs!She complains that she never has time or doesnt feel like eating. She became sick 3 years ago with pneumonia and developed asthma and ever since then she just cant seem to gain the weight back that she lost, plus she smokes alot and that doesnt aid, instead it cuts the appetite alot suppressing the urge to eat.Shes very poor and hardly makes enough a month to buy food, she pays the bills and whats left over then sje will buy some food with it which is like $200.00 of food for a whole month!Food cost alot and you dont get alot with $200.00.I help her out quite abit and when things are on special i buy double the quantity and give her half.If you saw her, well i feel really bad to say this since she is my mom,but im embarrassed to be seen with her because of what she looks like :(:( People stare at her alot and with weird faces,my boyfriend can hardly look her in the face when she comes to visit.I believe she does has some kind of disorder of not eating. Peanutjar:)

Thanks for telling about your mom, peanutjar. She eats very little but smokes a lot so that does not sound good for her health, especially her asthma. It sounds like she is not hungry for much of the time and only buys a bit of food once she has paid the bills because food is not important to her. It is great that you help her out. Yes, she has some kind of eating disorder. Good luck to her. I once went to Hawaii. I was amazed how much food cost there. Even bananas that were grown there were expensive. I spoke to some people that lived there. Most of them had to work long hours to have enough money to continue living there. When food is so expensive maybe it is tempting not to eat very much.

I struggled with exercise bulimia and anorexia in the past few years. I don't think anyone ever fully heals from these type of sicknesses. My counselor herself struggled with the same illnesses as I.The root of eating disorders is caused by mental control issues. The only thing that can help these people is therapy, or going to a eating disorder rehab facility.

I don't know anyone with a eating disorder but saw it on tv once on how they stuff themselves with food or starve themselves unnecessarily. It's more of a psychological problem than anything else and doctors' and counselors' help in this aspect is especially important. Closed ones' support is also very important during this period of recovery and it is a process, not a solution on its own.

This must have been an interesting program to watch on television. I think it takes quite a long time for a person to discuss their eating disorder. When I was a teenager one of my friends hardy ate anything. She was very thin but viewed herself as fat. Sadly she didn't ever get over feeling like that.

I have just read your article and think that you given very good advice. I will suggest that my friend reads it. You give people the idea of choosing a goal weight and ways to monitor their achievement. I especially liked the sport suggestions with the time each should be done for.

It certainly was an interesting program and I think it takes a lot of courage for people who used to have eating disorders to come upfront and admit that. It's also a great way of encouragement for current sufferers of this problem. I have written an article on losing weight fast. http://www.helium.com/tm/709084/fastest-weight-would-matter You might like to get your friend to read it if you find it useful. If anything, my recommended methods help to stay healthy and fit. Comments on my article would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My eating hours are very irregular. I can spend a day without eating a proper meal. Also, I don't eat at regular hours, and when I eat I generally eat more than average. I don't know if you can call that an eating disorder though. I guess, you were more referring to things like anorexia.

I have a compulsive over eating disorder. I do not know how to get over it, you just have to deal with it one day at a time. Any one who tells you that you can get rid of an eating disorder is selling you a line of goods I think.

I have struggled with anorexia and bulimia (as well as severe depression) for as long as I can remember, and probably always will. I mean, only a few months ago, I had a relapse - it just goes to show, there's no simple solution. Once you've crossed that initial line, there's no going back. You just have to try and keep people around you who love you, and who you can rely on whenever you need them. As a few people above me have said, I don't think you really ever recover, or even really get over it. You just have to try and take each day as it comes.

Unfortunately, with the job I did when I was younger, I saw many people, women and men, with eating disorders, as well as a host of other disorders. One of my close friends ended up in an eating disorder clinic here in BC. She is 5'6 and was down to 68 pounds. The clinic saved her life and, although she still struggles with the mind set sometimes, she is a healthy and happy wife and mom now. People with these issues need help quickly. This is a horrible thing for someone to have to go through and they need to know that there are others like them and that there is help for them, that they are never alone. For anyone who is in need of help, or you know of anyone in need of help in Canada, please contact the National Eating Disorder Information Center, www.nedic.ca Please, please don't wait. It could be the most important thing you do for yourself, or someone else!

I have a friend who had a anorexia. She was 14 years old and tell you truth i never really notice she was so skinny. i eman we were in that age, when you want to look good. But next I had a call from her mum, that she in hospital and if I cann go visit her. She was going through all kinds of consultation with psychologist and psychiatrist and that is what help her to love her body. I am sure this is not easy to hanlde and the best is to find a doctor.
