I was waiting to use the public toilet with my daughter and a lady came out and washed her hands and walked out, which I thought nothing of until the cleaner lady who was in there waiting to change the toilet paper said " Excuse Me" to the lady walking out and she turned around and the cleaner said to her "Don't you want to dry your hands. The hand dryer is here" the Lady replied " No, I'm fine Thank you" and walked off.... I thought that was odd, that somebody would make a comment to do that or insist they did.... I have seen people come out of the toilet and not wash their hands at all, as they beleive there are germs on the taps.... ...... What are your thoughts and experiences .....

I had a little bit of a strange experience about a restroom once. Me and my friend were eating at this nice restaurant. It wasn't terribly expensive but the place was really nice and had a nice atmosphere. We we were getting the check the waiter asked us if we wanted to try the bathroom. He said something along the lines of we have a really nice bathroom. My friend and I looked at each other like that's a strange thing to say he really wants us to use that bathroom. We thought it was really funny that this waiter wasn't pushing is to order more but that he wanted us to see the bathroom. Now I used to bathroom and he wasn't lying it was a really nice bathroom.

He probably had a hidden camera set up in there. Cynacal of me I know, but it's a weird world.

I get so aggervated watching people come into the restroom and not washing their hands when they are finished. I have a routine that I use in a public restroom. After I finish using the restroom, I pull out my towel, I use it to turn on the water and then I use it to pull up another towel. I grab this other towel when I am finished washing my hands. I then use the towel to open the door. It works for me.

Good For you villageanne.... I have a friend who I noticed once come out of the toilet and not wash her hands, I couldn't help but comment.... She said she never washes her hands in public toilets because of the germs.... I left it at that but I couldn't Help but think of what Germs were already on her hands after going to the toilet anyway.... To make it worse it was that time of month for her too..... I would still rather wash my hands overall though, better than not at all.....

Oh gross. I understand why you could not say anything else though. Personally, I could never go to a public restroom and not wash my hands. Yuck

What irks me is when people pee on the seat and don't have the courtesy to wipe it up. That's just disgusting.

Once again yesterday my daughter needed to use the public toilet and on cubicle she went to go in had wee all over the seat and the toilet hadn't been flushed.... agggghhh some people..... They just made it unhygienic for others..... At least most shopping centres the public toilets are clean as they have regular cleaners in there making sure.... It is true what you say about the toilet seat.....

I saw that episode. Tis true. If folks simply wash their behinds, there would be no need to pee on the seat.

I agree I think that is so inconsiderate. If people didn't "hover" and pee on the seat, the seats would be very clean and fine to sit on. I saw an episode of Penn and Teller where they examined toilet seats. Their results showed that your butt is generally cleaner than your hands! Who knew?

It is a bit weird for the cleaning person to mention dryiong one's hand. I will dry my hands if there are hand paper towels available. If it is one of those blow driers, I may dry my hands briefly, or sometimes not at all. They take so long to dry one's hands, that it is sometimes not worth the time. Washing is the important issue here, not drying.

I will not use a public restroom. I started this about a year ago when my anxiety hit me really bad. I am scared of all kinds of germs. I think that they will kill me =). I know. I know. I am weird though. My 2 daughters will not use a public restroom, due to the automatic toilets. They are terrified and think that all of public bathrooms have the auto flush. If I have to wash my hands in a bathroom that is not mine, I will get paper towels and pull or turn the handle and use the same paper towel to pull the handle on the bathroom door when I leave. I am an odd person, but it is better to be safe than sorry.

I do not have any friends. Go figure. Lol. I ocasionally go to the neighbors house and I will come home if I need to use the restroom. If I was my hands over there, yes I do the same thing. I know I am crazy. =)

You're going to probably laugh at me but here's my thoughts. I believe regardless if all you do is urinate you should wash your hands after going to the bathroom without exception. I always do and when leaving I pull my sleeve of whatever I'm wearing over my hand because the thought of grabing the door knob makes me crazy. Like you said I have seen people go in and leave without washing. That's nasty!!!

I think it's horrible when people don't flush the toilet or wash their hands. That's just rude and gross. And really bad hygeine for everyone involved. I don't always dry my hands though. I don't like air dryers and you really waste a lot of paper by using them to dry your hands. so I don't see a problem with not drying your hands and I think it's pretty rude of the cleaning lady to have said something like that.

I thought it was rude too... At least she did wash her hands... I did notice that the cleaner was watching everybody that came out of the toilet that they did wash their hands, before she changed the paper in the toilet than left.....

I am very concerned with public toilets, I would never, ever sit on a public toilet seat, especially those at fast food restaurants.

Public Toilet Hygiene is a major health issue today. I used to spray some antiseptic liquid on the closet before using it. Washing hands is really necessary, if you have eyes like microscop, you'll see huge amunt of bacteria

You pick up germs everywhere, so you would think that people would wash them at every chance they get.....
