It was a very disappointing result for Manchester United. they looked toothless upfront without both Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo although Carlos Tevez got an open goal in front of him but failed to convert it. Furthermore with all their challengers: Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City won on the same day, this result could prove to be a setback for the Red Devils. I also think Sir Alex made a mistake by playing Michael Carrick instead of Anderson, as we can see only after Anderson came in the second half only United created enough chances to threaten Bolton's goal

Finished 1-0 Anelka winner. Ferguson sent to the stands after arguing with the ref at half time. Looks like Bolton just about deserved it though Man U had chances from some freekicks, and Tevez had a chance from about 3 yards out
