a dreadful weekend

to all mylot friends. sorry if i haven't responded to your discussions the past days. i have a very busy working days this week. besides, i still can't get over with about what happened last saturday. we have a slight car accident. the rear part of a big public bus almost hit us when he overtook us. we - me, my husband and son, came from my parents house last saturday. we were running along the highway going home in a pick-up. it is an hour ride from my parent's to our place and my son was asleep at the back. my husband got a chance to overtake a pedicab, and this bus who's following us also overtook us. we have not made it yet properly to the lane. the bus really tried to beat because there's a motocycle coming from the opposite direction. had my husband didn;t break immediately we could have been hit hard by the rear of the bus. my husband almost lost control from the sudden break he made and we skid slightly. it's good there's no other vehicles coming from the opposite side. we made a stop for a while and check. we noticed a slight scratch on the left front just near the front light. the bus just keep on running fast. my husband was so quick that he got the code number of the bus. when we reach the city we check on the terminal of that bus company and reported the driver. that reckless driver could have cause us our lives. we're just thankful nothing seriuos happened. had it not also for my quick minded husband i don't know what and where we are now this time (knock on wood). i don't know, what actions the bus company will give the driver. at least he already have a bad record from that incident. thanks for reading.

Congratulations to your quick-thinking hubby, and I am certainly glad that you and your loved ones are safe. That would certainly put a dent in anyone's weekend. A truck ran into our car while it was parked on a city street several months ago, and poor hubby was in the car, but unhurt. Better the car than him, if one of them has to get crunched, but it was a costly repair and the culprit seems to have flown the coop.

Unfortunately the cost of the repair is the same as our deductible so there is no advantage to making a claim. But the high deductible has resulted in many years of very low premiums, so it does even out. We have the person's name and address (in another state, though) so we may still recover, but I'm not holding my breath.

thank you so much drannhh. i'm sorry to know what happened to your car too. yes, better the car than your hubby's life. but i admire your rules there compared to our country. you have a strict rules about traffic violations and accidents caused by reckless drivers.

Some people really lack in discipline, I hope that you're all okay now. I think the bus company should also shoulder the cost for your cars repairs, since it is obviously not your fault. People easily procure licenses and are authorized to drive public vehicles without even passing some tests, in which it should be strictly imposed by the authorities. You should've ask who the driver was, in-case you need some informations the next time that driver comes into trouble again..

so far damage was negligible that we just forego it. you're right, there are a lot of drivers who gets licenses easily even if they're not qualified yet. but it's usually is the case in my country. as long as one knows a little driving, they can get the license easily. that's why there are so many who are reckless, that in the first place they don't know the traffic rules.

Oh dear, thank God nothing bad happened to any of you. This is a big miracle, it is God's hand that guided your husbands hand. Am happy to hear this. About the bus driver, I think you could have reported him to the authorities and not the bus company because sometimes they defend their staff so that they dont spoil the name of their company with police, who knows how many people like you have undergone the same treatment with the same bus company.
