Chat rooms

November 29, 2007 9:39am CST
Hi can anyone recommend any chat rooms or forums designed just for crafts. I love talking about crafts and to have a chat room where you can talk to people who are online aswell would be really good. I look forward to hearing your responses.

There are tons of blogs that have discussions about crafting and crafters. I've come across some very good tips in the Etsy.com forums and there even been a couple of crafters who made a listing (like listing a craft item for sale) of a way to make a device to make earwires for earrings. If you're on Yuwie, check out the crafting clubs there, we have some discussions in the club meassges about crafting, what we're making, craft shows, selling crafts on the internet, etc. Let me know if you need any help finding these sites.

Some of the sites are US based, but the forums like ETSY and Yuwie have members from all over the world. I've been unable to find craft shows on the internet for thestate I live in (but I do locate them from word of mouth at local craft shows and the newspapers) But there are alot of great discussions about crafting on these sites.

I go to http://www.sewingmamas.com/b/forums.php? a lot. It's mostly just sewing, with some knitting mixed in. But almost everyone there is pretty crafty and a lot of fun to chat with.

I was looking through my favorite sites and found one for you... getcrafty.com They had forums and blogs about crafting and had discussions about specific crafts last time I was there ( and hopefully after the holidays, when my schedule slows down a bit, I can go back there and just chat away!)

Hello again, Aqua. I think it's very neat you like crafts. You must be very good! I'd love to see some of your work sometime. I'm not very much into crafts because I don't think I'm very good at things like that (and I'm not usually very patient), so it helps me appreciate people like you who have wonderful talent. Here's (hopefully) some helpful advice for you. This may seem really general, but you could try joining AOL and/or Yahoo instant messengers if you haven't already. They're both completely free. If you get to a webpage that's trying to charge you for a particular service, you're at the wrong spot. I have both and there are so many chat groups. In fact, if you didn't see a crafting network and/or chat room, I'm sure you could start your own! Yahoo is my preferred provider for chat rooms since there's such a variety and it's easier to find. I hope this helps you. Good luck!

Hi there! What types of crafting are you interested in? Like everyone here has said... there are tons of groups with chat rooms, but to better service you, you would do better to hone into the crafts that most interest you... otherwise, you could get stuck on a site that talks mostly about what you DON'T want to do... Someone here had suggested Yahoo Groups. I agree. I belong to several groups through the Yahoo forum. Just go to Yahoo Groups, then search for a specific craft type (i.e. paper crafting, crocheting, etc.), and it will come up with many groups for you to choose from. Another thing that I personally do... when I discover a product that I like, I usually go to the product's website or manufacturer. Many times they have a community messageboard or something similar. Sign up for the newsletters, also. This is a great way to meet new people with similar interests and get some new project ideas for your favorite things, as well. Good luck and happy crafting!

Are you a member of MySpace? They have a huge list of craft-related groups! I don't chat, but the blogs are great! You may not even have to be a member... Try googling the subject from all directions... there is a lot out there!
