OH man, I feel for you. I hate that smell. Depending on the weather, it can last from 2 to 3 weeks. I hate mice and I hate to smell them even more. A bowl of vinegar setting in the room will help some.

Charcoal brickets will also help with the smell.
I answered your discussion from my email so I did not read the comments first.
This time of year, the mice are looking for a warm place to stay in winter. Often a female will be expecting little ones. They tend to have alot of little ones and when they grow up, you are going to have trouble. I feel so sorry for you. It is not anything that ykou are doing wrong. It is just the way creatures are.

I put a pot of water with cinnamon sticks, cloves, nutmeg and ginger and bring it to a boil. Simmer it all day long and add water when it is low. You can also use one of those electric potpourri pots.

Bless your heart!!
I really don't know Terry. I would think it wouldn't take that long. Their little bodies should dry up pretty quick. Hehe
When I had the fish smell, someone suggested to use some baking soda in some cups or something and it took the smell out of her closet in a few days. Try setting out some baking soda in some bowls or something. I sure hope it goes away real soon!

Dont know but it sounds horrible. Maybe you should call in an exterminator maybe they can pinpoint where it is, I think rotting flesh is toxic and harmful to children, if you have some you may want to get rid of that.
