Okay many of us think of our pets as our "babies". We hug them pet them, kiss them, talk to them...However. Is it just me, or do you have a "made" up language or song that you do with your pets? Now in case you're confused and haven't a clue what I mean. Think of the silly goo-goo, ga-ga's one will do to a baby (they must think were nuts).. this is the kind of thing I mean. If you do, do this--do you do this especially if you're alone and no one is around to think you're daft, or don't you care and do this weird language or song anyway regardless. Better yet, what do you're pets think...do they admire this strange language or song you do just for them, or do they look at you as if to say, "Oh, yeah..she's gone."One thing I seem to have the "gift" for...I can do a one-=hundred percent mimic of a cat's meow...it drives mine crazy and they think that suddenly a new cat is in my apartment Oh of course I do other silly things that make them think I'm daft..this picture I include here kind of proves it So confess folks...do you do this kind of thing...or gasp...is it only me?

yes, i do sometimes talk to our cat in a weird way, haha. i only do it when i'm alone or around my family or boyfriend though. otherwise i'd probably feel really stupid doing it, haha. so don't worry - it's definitely not only you! haha.

I don't think, I know Dom, Lil' Bear, Tigger, and Simba are my kids even though they have 4 legs. I don't have a special language just for them. I talk to them like I'm talking to a child. Scary cause Tigger has learned something new recently. He now opens doors and closes them. The sliding patio door, knobs, and now the utility room door which is the one we use all the time. He wants so bad to go outside with me. Bought him a harness only to find out it's too small for him. lol

Pretty sure Tigg is still looking for his pal because the few times he did manage to sneak out, he would walk around the house, peeking under the porches, utility trailer, cars, and other spots that Lighting used to sleep in/under whenever it was nice out. Lil' Bear our daughter named for the cartoon called Lil' Bear. That was one of her fave shows when she was 2.

Tigger doesn't have a "girlfriend" outside, does he?? Or is he still looking for his former friend?? Li'l Bear..interesting name..didn't by any chance use that as a name from Li'l Bear of that movie Indian in the Cupboard?? Just wondering

Hehehe. I know what you mean!!! I'm quite good at mimicking a cats meow too! I talk to my Moses like that when he gets going. I do talk baby talk to them too. Not so sure I have a song or language per say. When I sing though they love it. Esp Moses. Leo did when he was younger.

One funny thing...if I do my little song for Kissy, my other cat, Pyewacket has to come racing over..yeesh, does he ever want attention and has a bit of a jealous streak if I pay attention to Kissy--LOL--so of course I have to sing "his" song

Glad to meet another looney tune...hehe. That's funny that you caught your hubby doing goo goos at Yukon. I guess I have more "reserved" kitties cause they look at me like I'm totally nutty, but what the heck-sometimes wonder what our "babies" think of us in general Love you new avatar pic :)

Everybody talks to their pets in some fashion. That is one of the main reasons that you have a pet. That way you can talk while you are alone and you can say "I'm not crazy I was just talking to my dog". No really, animals do understand a lot of what we say to them and once we get to know them, we understand the different tones and pitches that they make. Even the different flicks of the tail that a cat makes denotes its mood and desires sometimes. I'm either lucky or insane but I have an African Grey that can actually hold a conversation with me. Of course it is always only on her terms. If I try to initiate the comversation and she is not intrested at that moment, she will either ignore me or tell me to go away. Some friend she is.

Oh, I love birds too. Used to have a grey-cheeked parakeet, sort of a small parrot the size of a love bird. Alas, she never talked to me, though I would with her. She had a great method of wanting my attention. If she ever felt she was being ignored or not getting enough attention she'd purposely fall of her perch--so of course come rushing over to see if she was all right (of course she was)--she would also very noisily reprimand the cats if they annoyed her. She was the boss of the house! Miss her..she lived 20 years..and would love another bird someday

Well, i dont speak with my two dogs in unintelligible language. What i do though, is speak with them. And i mean it, speak, almost like dialogue. People would think im talking alone, but its not right, i strongly believe they understand me. You can say by their smile and the looks they give you...so no need to speak with them in gaga-googoo...they wouldnt understand that since i wouldnt understand that myself :)My pets like this habit of mine to speak to them.I se them focused to what i say, its kinda weird.

oh yes we hugs them if they let us talk to them play with them. but cant think of talking to them only maybe in a different tone and I never goo gaga words to a baby. tlaked to them like they knew what I was saying and I do this with our dogs to . They are our boys. SInce I lost Fang I dont play to much with the other 2 and one dont play much . But the black Chow loves for me to get outside with him and play he sets down and I whorl my hands around him and he gets up and goes round and round me some times like to knock me down then runs off then back to do it again . Seems like he loves that. Cant mimic a bark to much. but with cats I can see the ways to do a meow that would make them think another one had came to visit lol

Besides my being able to do a mimicking of a meow myself, you should see how "crazy" my cats get if they hear something on the computer of a cat's cry. That sounds cute how you play with your one dog and make him whirl around like that

We speak scooby to our dogs...you know like the scooby do cartoon. Our dogs are roofralls (goofballs) and they get gifts from Rom and Rop (Mom and Pop) and I see nothing odd about this at all.

oh yes people think 'm silly, even when I'm in the pet store talking to the pets there. I was wondering actually if they did the same when nobody is around. I don't create any new language, but I do talk to my cat as if she is my baby, because she is to me. My husband does the same, so he loves her too, he just doesn't want another cat

I don't make up songs, but I do have some songs for some of the cats. I sing parts of the "Oliver" song for Oliver. I used to sing "Doctor, doctor, tell me the news, I've got a bad case of loving you..." for my cat, The Doctor.

I used to bring my Amazon parrot into the shower with me and I'd sing "I'll Fly Away" to him, which I had 'rewrote' to suit him. He would get sooo excited... prancing back and forth across the shower curtain rod, singing along in his loud squawking voice. It was hilarious.

That's funny! I used to have a birdie, a Grey-Cheeked parakeet that is actually a parrot type bird.. I'd take into the bathroom and close the door to give her "playtime" as it was the only way I could let her out --did have kitties. I would talk to her just as much as I did with my cats.

I didn't have to worry about the cats with my bird, or the dog either... EVERYBODY, man and beast, was scared of that bird and gave him a VERY wide berth when he was running around on the floor, chewing up everything he could get that beak of his into!

No, it's not just you. My husband sings to one of our cats. She has her own song and she just melts when we sing it to her. Of course, every single animal we have has their own pet name or nickname. Each one of them has quite a few and we call them that all the time.

I sometimes talk "funny" to my pets. It is no big deal. Just trying to love them back. It is easy to do this with cats and dogs because they are more interactive than say a turtle or a tarantula.

i don't really have a language with them,so to speak- but my uncle's cat that i adopted insists on being spoken to in only baby talk tones. he wouldn't respond to anything before i did,so i'm guessing my uncle must have spoken to him that way.

I talk to my cats and they talk back.....sometimes it is a long conversation and at others it is short....depends on their mood. Conversation is usually quite spirited when suppertime approaches. They take time to remind me that supper is late. They have a great way of making you feel like you are being watched.....the hills have eyes sort of thing.

OMG!!! we're so alike!! i looove it when i can mimic my cat's meow! lol. i am also affectionate with them, hugging them, kissing them, talking to them. I study with my pets, brainstorm with them. i confess things to them which i wont tell anybody. thats the great thing about my cats--they will never judge you, nor will they reject you. come to think of it, it's also quite sad - these things that I do with my cats should be the things i should be doing with the people i love, which i rarely or never do at all. i guess we all need some kisses and hugs, and pets are the perfect substitute for out teddy bears.
