Did you know that when cats and dogs are fighting cats start the fight?

I had a cat few years ago and my boyfriends had a dog. He went for a walk with his dog and passed in front of my house. I saw them and stop them to give him a kiss (we were living just 100m one from another so each time he wanted to go somewhere he needed to pass near my house because the street has a dead end. I saw my cat getting angry and I took him in the house. But as my mother opened the door of the house again he ran out and jumped on the dog. The dog was german shepherd so you can imagine who got the shorter end. The dog bit my cat under the chest and he ran away to die. I have never loved any cat the way I loved that one and I think I never will. I still can't understand why this small cat jumped on big dog.

It's their incredible self confidence. My cats taunt my huge dog who hates them. My poor dog doesn't want to displease me so he chews himself up rather than chewing up the cats. And I'm gonna have to tell you my most recent brave cat story... I was camping in the wilderness preserve 8 miles from my house. I drove my 4 kitties up there to camp with me. 2 of them went missing (the two 'kitties in boots' that are pictured in my avatar) and I assumed they had been killed by a fiercer predator than themselves. I grieved for 3 months over my little sweethearts. Leaving the campground when they had not come back (after 3 months) broke my heart. They were the two kitties that I had most deeply bonded with. The other day I was sitting here on MyLot when a kitty came excitedly running in and jumped up on my lap. I thought it was my big male orange cat, but as I went to pet him hello I noticed his ears were half gone and that overnight he had become skinny as a rail! Then I realized it was one of the missing kitties! I was in shock! For 3 months my little darling has been making her way over unfamiliar terrain to find her way home! She is 'worse for the wear' too; I think she tussled with a bobcat actually, she even looks like one now... both her ears are half gone, sliced right off. She has a deep wound on her back that apparently caused some nerve damage and she no longer has the use of her tail, although the vet said there is no need to lop it off, otherwise she would look totally like a little bobcat. Now I'm wondering all over again what happened to Patches, the little calico. I have to force myself not to think of all the possible scenarios. In fact I have to change the subject right now. I'm sorry to hear about your little friend. I too am seeking understanding in that area.

oh, poor kitty. we've never had cats but there are lots of cats in my neighbors house. our pets have always been dogs. the cats in the neighbors house always come to pick fights with our dogs. i dont know why they have to come to our yard when they know they'd be in great danger. oh cats, we won't understand them. i guess thats just the cats & dogs world.

I went round to my girlfriends house years ago with my dog Nan and made sure I kept her on a lead - my dog that is, not my girlfriend. haha She said her cat could look after itself and to let my dog free. Well her cat did give a good showing and bit my dog's ear but my dog still chased her cat all over the house flicking blood from her ear all up the walls and across the ceiling!! What a mess!! Eventually Nan had her cat cornered under a bed and I was able to get a lead back on again. It took us ages to get the blood cleaned up before her parents came home.
