As we all see and feel Christmas is almost 20 days from now. And I know most of us god parents are busy wrapping our gifts for our loved one specially our god children that are visiting us on the Christmas day for their gifts. I do usually give them educational toys or reading materials, I seldom give money I make it sure that they will be happy of what gift I wrapped for them. How about you friends what do you usually wrapped for them for Christmas?

For years now... i made it a point to buy gifts for my godchildren, niece, and nephews... they would visit my house during christmas eve or christmas day itself... it seeing thier happy faces is an enough thank you for me... but this year is a different situation... i am about to lose my job so... i have to tighten the pursue because i don't know when i will be able to get another job... It is very sad that this has to happen but i think i will skip the gift giving this year and just opt for candies... i hope they will understand...

I'm sorry to hear that aseretdd, I know your not the only one who experienced that kind of situation right now. Life is getting harder now specially earning money. I know as many people experienced it right now they will understand each other situation. Me too I cost cut the gift I gave for them just to give them happy faces when they received it. Thanks and I hope you may have a merry Christmas. Have a nice day....

We do not celebrate christmas, but we participate in it. We have our Hindu festivals and conferences. At conferences, I give school materials like pencils, pens, boxes, erasers all made into sets and give it the organizers to be given away as gift to the children.

I would love to give them toys and books during christmas. I think good treat with lots of yummies and cakes can be given. Candies and chocolates are also my favorite friends. For friends I think Christmas cards are the best gift. I have to look into shops to see what all new gifts are there. Here the shops bring new different types of gifts during Christmas season.

For god children I love to give useful things like clothing or special food treats. I've been loving these tshirts and onesies from an online store at hugewonder.com that are parodies of the Godfather movie; they say The Godchild on them. I'm godmother to a boy and girl twins and i gave them matching onesies that say The Goddaughter and The Godson on them. The parents thought they were so funny.

I like to give things that are useful like clothing or special foods/treats. For god children, my favorites lately have been these onesies and tshirts from www.hugewonder.com that say The Godchild, The Godson, or The Goddaughter on them. The parents always find it hilarious ;) It's like the Godfather movie logo but changed for kids.

How about opening a saving account for them and teaching them how to save for the future? I know that it may not sound very attractive now, but they will greatly appreciate the cautionary habit in the future - My parents thought me how to save by age three, and by age six, I could afford to buy icecream without asking my parents for money! Oh, that was all I did or had need for, seeing my parents always provided for my needs: Some icecream or chocolate and hot biscuits now and then (and without begging anyone for money)!

Hi lynboobsy! Wow, long time no hear! haha... Beautiful avatar my friend! How are you? As for my godchildren, I usually give them books and educational toys. But i have this one particular godchild who is also my eldest 12 year old niece, she always asked me to give her cash since she was 10 years old so she can shop for herself after Christmas. Well, as a doting aunt, I give in to her wishes. haha.. But of course, she shops with me because she makes me pay instead if her money is not enough. Smart kid, huh?! haha..Take care and have a nice day! :)

I must confess that I haven't been good at keeping track of giving gifts to my Godchildren. When I see them, I probably just give money, but most of the time, I don't really prepare for this. We were not accustomed to expecting for gifts from our Godparents. The gift giving usually is within the family. I'll probably be more diligent on this starting this Christmas. Thanks!

I was a a Godmother by the age of 9 and now my eldest godchild is 13 years old. I also do not like the idea of giving my godchildren money primarily because once they give it to their parents for safekeeping, don't expect they'll get the full amount back. LOL. I usually opt for gifts that will be useful to the child. If I have the budget, educational toys would make great gifts but since I don't, I still give them school supplies and bags which I can buy in bulk. This year, I've started wrapping the things I bought for them. I just hope that they'd end up liking the things I got. Anyways, good luck on your Christmas shopping!
