A changing society

Most people will agree that society is changing, and probably at a faster pace then ever before. How do you feel about this? Are things improving or is society falling apart? Who do you think is responsible, and what, if anything, should be done? Change is of course inevitable, are some of us unable to accept that? Blessings.

I think society as a whole is falling apart. We are changing so fast that no one is thinking about the future. Our actions will cause re-actions, Newton's basic law right? Well if we go back in history there weren't really obese people becuase everyone was working on the farm. We weren't poluting our planet and killing off species of animals. Kids weren't having kids and life was pretty much all around better. I would still like to have the conviences of technology (can't live with out a cell phone or the internet) but if we took them all away we would still be able to function and probibly would be better for it.

I see your point. It's really our behavior that has to be altered, not the actual objects around us.

HI tiffiny, Thanks for commenting. I'm not sure that I would say that society is falling apart, but the way people look at things is changing, and yes cell phones, the Internet, etc. are making a big different. Your statement that kids weren't having kids is not really true. Girls were getting married at 14 and 15 because they were pregnant. Of course you might say that they were more mature, which is probably true because of society at that time, also there was a family structure. We certainly were not polluting to the extent that we are today, but that is because there weren't as many cars or as much big industry. I'm not sure that I'd like to go back, but rather fine solutions to our present woes.

Yes, society is changing ,but this is a normal process. In the 1800th century and 1900th century things were even worst than now. At least women now are not considered objects like before.

Very true, but there is more domestic violence than ever before.

I think that in the old days there was a lot of domestic violence ,but women would keep quiet.

yes, everything is changing, and depending on your veiw, can be good or bad. to me.it is bad,I have watched my country being taken over and my culture erroding, due mainly to interracial marriages or commonlaw couplings. I am old fashioned, and thankfully,I do not expect to live much more than another 20 to 30 years,so I will not see the total destuction of my race. this I class as the only drawback to the invention of the aircraft. I am sorry if this offends anyone,it is only my own feelings. Blessed Be.

Hi mac, Thank you for responding. I agree with you about things changing, but we must try to find a bright side, things are not all bad. Blessings.

While technology has surely come far (going to the moon, separating conjoined twins), I think our morals and character have regressed as a whole in society. The lack of having absolute beliefs of right and wrong has brought us to whatever feels good, do it. Or it's right for me, but not for you. There ARE absolutes, and as individuals, we need to accept responsibility for our actions. If we do so, we can work together as communities to turn this whole world around.

I wouldn't advocate a return to the past. No way would I want women to be dominated or black people to return to slavery. I'm talking about respecting people and the lives they lead, and hopefully all that would eventually follow that attitude.

Hi AmbiePam, Thank you for responding. What's right and what's wrong are decided by the society we live in, our grandparents didn't have it all right either. We may think that morals have regressed because we are comparing it to a different time. I agree that we have to take responsibility for our actions, but our goal must be a better society, not a return to the past. Blessings.

actually I used to read futurist things and I have done tons of thinking about this, and the future AND I know some things are very very likely to happen and some things about how both my own and societies future will unfold I'm only gonna share it live and with friends, and even then , only sparingly

yes society is changing. I think it is really heard to tell whether it is cahnging for good or bad, but i must say something are changing for good and some are really bad. we have got advanced in technology and all. But still we are not free from all the superstitions etc of life. Advancement of technology has got bad effect too on us. so its amixed baggage.

Hi subha, Very good comment. Thanks. I believe that we have failed to change in the most important way of all, the way that we interact with each other. I'm talking in a global sense now as we are all basically neighbours in today's world. The next big step for us is to learn to live together in peace. Blessings

Society is changing and has to change in order to accommodate an ever growing population. The people who have more than two children are responsible. Something will be done eventually. If the people won't stop breeding like rabbits... nature will eliminate them in the biggest way possible. And it will happen this century.

Hi Aussies, Thanks you for your thoughts on this post. I'm not sure that the changes taking place have that much to do with the growing population, but we do need to adjust. Blessings.

Hi Pose123! I do agree with most of the people that society is changing and at a much faster pace. There are a lot of new discoveries and inventions technologically speaking and people are caught up in the high tech world of all those gadgets and trying to be rich. You can see so many people rushing to work and spending less and less quality time for themnselves and for their families. Families get broken and some are barely surviving to maintain a decent relationship with someone. Although life now is more convenient because of the modern appliances and technologies available but how come there are so many empty hearts and lonely faces among the crowd? I believe that with all the changing times, we should be firm and steadfast on who we are and what we believe which is true happiness. I personally believe that the center of my life should be God so as not to get lost with all these changing times. Just my thoughts. Take care and have a nice day. :)

Hi Pose123! I completely agree with you..and as the Greatest Commandment is "Love thy neighbor as you love thyself." Very difficult at times but it is worth a try. I do wish we have a world that we can truly see the beauty of each and everyone of us. Take care my friend and have a nice day. :)

Hi faith, Thank you for your usual good response. In all the changes that we are seeing, we are missing something. We have not learned to live together as good neighbours, which is what we all are in today's shrinking world. We have not grown spiritually. We must come to realize that we all want the same things, we are all seeking love and to be loved. We all want to be thought of as a somebody. We need to be able to say, "ours is a way, ours is not the only way". That is the area where change will help the most. Blessings.

You and I are very lucky, pose... the most dramatic changes have happened in the last 50 years or so, and we've been here to see it all! Things change as people need them to change, it isn't random or coincidence. Aren't you excited to see what happens next?

Society is changing, more people getting rich even more people getting more poor then the already where. Of course i speak in terms of money. They changes are i think do to communication, since Internet it never has been so easy to communicate with other parts of the world. With the Ga-y revolution(i have nothing against g-ays by the way) here in the "90 it was started with extremist types, thats what hapening to society also at the moment, it takes a while, but people will get a bit normal again.

The technical evolution and scientific progress will soon dig a huge grave for us all. That's why some people who know that someting is wrong in the society call it the *evilution.* I read an article the other day which says that if we do not stop polluting the Earth now, everything might be over already in 50 years...the Earth will no longer be able to bear us. I am against any further changes!!!

Hi Vintervarg, Whether we are for or against, changes will come. I agree that there are many problems but we have faced challenges before and overcome them. I believe we can do so again. Thanks for commenting. Blessings.
