Toothfairy and how the toothfairy picks up the teeth

Ok I know I haven't sent the question out the best way but I wasn't sure how to write it. What I'm wanting to know is after your child loses their teeth and it's time for the toothfairy to come how does the tooth fairy find/pick up the tooth. My son is only not quite 3 and I'm looking for ideas for when the time comes. When I was a kid we used to put the tooth under our pillow or in a glass full of water. Where ever the tooth had been the night before in the morning that is where we'd find a coin from the tooth fairy. My son has been given tooth fairy boxes but I'm not sure if I want to use them as I love the old way of under the pillow or the glass of water tooth dropoff plan. What does everyone else do when it comes to the toothfairy?

My son puts his tooth in a bag and places it under his pillow when he goes to bed. In the morning when he wakes up he has a dollar from the tooth fairy. Sometimes he knocks the tooth out from under his pillow and his money is in a bag on the floor when he wakes up.
