Comfort?

Since the weather has been colder, and more like winter, I find myself wanting to have some hot chocolate in the evenings. I find it soothing to cradle the warm cup in both hands while blowing on the hot cocoa and sipping away. It fills a desire for desert but mostly fills an emotional need. It's a comfort thing! Can anyone relate?

I love to have coco. It's just so nice to feel that warmth spread threw you. And it gives you this I'm a little kid and everything's right in the world kind of feeling. I love it too!

Sounds very comfy, soothing and inviting, Are you reading a book, or snuggled close to a nice fire or sitting next to someone? This kind of nourishing is exactly what your emotional spirit needs.

Now see...I forgot about the fire. You need to add that to the equation also...warm cup, snuggled under a comforter or afghan, watching the flames of a fire and reading a book or just snoozing in front of the tv...what could be better?

I totally agree. I miss having a wood stove in the house. Moments like this are to be cherished. You can't beat the peaceful relaxation and knowing that things are fine at in the present moment.

And the marshmallows..you forgot those. lol We sometimes roast marshmallows as well. That's why I love a fireplace/wood stove. You can do some things that are usually seasonal, yearround. :-D

I love hot chocolate. I have not made it for some time, I usually have hot lemon with honey or hot peppermint tea, because I get bronchitis and besides milk gives me phlegm. Why I am having yogurt right now, and that is a health food and already I am coughing up phlegm. Hot chocolate, however, does brings back memories when I did not have that problem and it was so sweet. Now to make it perfect, some fruit and nuts and some cheesecake. Too bad I have to watch my weight.

I can relate completely!!! These 23 degree nights we are having this week really make a warm cup of comfort appealing. Sometimes if I don't want the sweet/dessert warm cuppage, I choose a wonderfully light butternut squash soup that is delicious and nutritious...and I can still cradle that warm cup and snuggle with my down coverlet wrapped around me...and drink it like a beverage...It serves both purposes...Now I have to go fix one or the other!!!

Yes, on those chilly evenings, sometimes I want soups or stews. There is something comforting about those also.

I sure can relate, estherlou. Whenever I've been working out in the bitter cold, I love coming in and making some hot chocolate and sitting in front of the fire to warm up. I've passed this tradition onto my daughter who is 9yrs old. Oftentimes, she will open the door to see if I'm bout to come in and if I tell her I am soon as I'm done doing something, she'll fill 2 mugs with milk and set them in the micro for a few min. Then get the hot cocoa down and measure the proper amounts into each mug and stir. If we have marshmallows, she's sure to add a few as well. Then has my mug to hand me soon as my boots come off. We then go sit by the fire and sip the cocoa while watching the flames flicker and dance. No tv going or any other noise. She also banks the fire so it's roaring when I come in out of the cold. My lil baby is growing up too fast. :-((

Hot chocolate is always a comforting drink, I agree. I once had 3 cups at one go and it was in the morning, in a cold air-con room though. Now I am yearning for one now. lol.

I love hot cocoa with marshmellos. I love to keep adding more and more marshmellows when I get them or they disolve. I do not have have hot cocoa in my home for that reason, I cannot stop with one cup. When I want something hot to drink I like hot tea.

Looks like you having great time in winter. I mostly prefer drinking hot cappuccino with lots of cream on top of it. That really sooths me down in any conditions.

Hi estherlou! That is really a comforting feeling! I can relate to this. You see whenever I am home alone (when hubby is on a meeting or seminar), I feel some emptiness inside me but whenever I fix myself with a hot cup of coffee or chocolate or tea, I get the same feeling as yours. And I agree that somehow it fills the emptiness inside and it is very comforting that I feel the warmth of the cup in both of my hands. Take care and have a nice day. :)

This time of year, I buy a canister of sugar-free cocoa mix, like Swiss Miss, and put a spoonful in my coffee a couple of times a day. I can have a nice hot mocha any time I want, save big bucks, and not feel guilty, because its sugar-free. Thats all kinds of comfort!

OH yes, I too enjoy a mug of Hot chocolate at night. I like marshmellow in mine. It helps to heat me up when it is so cold out.

Yes, I can relate because the oother day, it was a bit cold here, well nippy if you must say since I'm in the deep south, and I had to have some peppermint tea that particular night. Now usually, I have kool-aid, but this night called for tea, and I had to have some and I did.Interesting.

Tea, coffee, chocolate--as long as it is piping hot, I love it. I love holding it in my hands, and sipping it slowly. Takes a long time to finish one big cup, but I love it. It is great to enjoy it alone, or in front of the TV, or with family. The greatest luxury in the world, and doesn't cost much, either!

Yes I can relate. For me though its flavored coffee. Or rather coffee with flavored creamer. Easier on the body than actual desert. And soothing too. The hot chocolate, I reserve for my child, when she feels like "coffee" too.

Oh yes, I definitly relate to that. I love to sit and have a hot chocolate drink while sitting in front of my fireplace and reading a book. I sometimes do this with a cup of tea too, not just hot chocolate. But yes the hot chocolate will satisfy that sweet craving I sometimes get. But then I will usually have two cups, not just one.
