bobmnu started a new discussion called Raise the Gas Tax to pay fo new Bridges in politics.

Congress wants to increase the federal gas tax $0.05 to $0.10 per gallon to pay for new bridges. My suggestion would be to remove all projects that are not building or maintaining the highway system and make them a user fee like the highways. This would remove Bike Trails, Walking paths, hiking trails, horse trails, and related shelters. It would also remove all mass transit aid and make the us...

Schools are also concerned about money. If you take in a student who can't make it you are spending money with out getting a return. Exams also serve to limit the pool of candidates. If you have to select 400 ou of 10,000 you give an exam to determine who has the bes chance of being successful.

The next major question that the news media can ask his is Boxers or Brief? I am sure the world is dying to know.

In Los Angles students are taught in their native language and they have over 30 different languages being used. They are giving drivers test in several different languages but road signs are only in English. I will go back to a statement that you become an American not when you get you slip of paper but when you can speak English (the American version). That is what makes you an American.

bobmnu commented in a discussion called Is the Judicial System Out of Control? in debating.

The point is it is not up to the courts to make law. It is up to the State Legislature to make those laws. What if a judge ruled that if a 14 yr old could get married why not a 12 yr old and if a 12 yr old why not a 10 yr old? The judges are not striking down a law that says gays can not marry. They are redefining marriage to include the same se-x couples. What if a judge rules that you can hav...

The changes you cited were laws that were struck down and the legislature made new laws. Not one person saying this is how I feel and now it is law. Let them take their case to the legislature and make their case where the issue can be debated and problems discussed. How would you feel if a judge said ti was murder to abort a fetus and the woman was guilty of murder and any one who help was cha...

bobmnu commented in a discussion called Who benefits from President Bush's tax cuts? in debating.

The top 5% of the people who pay taxes account for 90% of the taxes paid, while the bottom 20% consumes over 50% of the government aid. For example my daughters bot make about $35,000 per year, both are single but one has a child. The one with out a child pays a federal income tax of about $3000. The one with a Child receives a tax refund of $4,500. Why? The daughter with the child can claim he...

Global warming is based upon computer models and projections. You put date in and you get projections out. After Katrina, a sure sign of global warming we were to have 5-7 cat 5 hurricanes the next season (2006) according to the Global warming computer models and projections. Not one hurricane made landfall in the US. In 2007 hurricane season we finally got some hurricanes to make landfall but ...

If Ford Motor Co can't express it's views than why can a man like George Serios spend his money to finance a political cause. I have a problem with what Ford is supporting but I choose not to buy their cars. That is thee free market and the free expression of ideas. Once you start to restrict that you are in great danger.

And the housing problems, and the recession (which is not a recession except to the media) nad it is all blamed on President Bush.

Who benefits from President Bush's tax cuts?

I have heard how the Democrats are going to help me by repealing the Bush Tax cuts and going back to the Clinton era when they taxed the rich and gave breaks to the poor. I did some checking and...

Is the Judicial System Out of Control?

If you look at some of the rulings by Judges lately and you have to wonder if putting on the Black Robe makes you lose all common sense and reasoning? A Judge in Florida rules that Sex Offenders...

English as the US Official Language

Do you favor English as the Official language of the United States? Isn't it the ability to speak English that makes you an American? What are your thoughts on this.
