It really depends on the child like every other new development in a baby's life - some babies don't get their first tooth until a year and a half or later. My baby started at about four months and the first tooth emerged at about five and a half. He had eight teeth by 12 months - which was the end of December. I could tell though that more teeth were on the way - he's been crying alot at night and his gums swollen. Since he tends to get two teeth at one time - I expected two eye teeth on the bottom. Yet here its a few days into his thirteenth month (since his b'day is the last few days of November) he has seven more teeth that are emerging - that I can see and feel - and the rest of his gums are swollen. He should have a full set really soon. I didn't even know that babies could get so many teeth emerging at once! So now he has what fifteen teeth!

Kids vary so very much with things like this so don't worry too much, our daughter had about 4 by the age of 12 months, now, at the age of 18 months, she has 12 teeth. Some kids start teething really early - in the first few months after birth, others not until late. Just think, your friend would have gone through a lot of rough days & nights already with her 10 month old already having 8 teeth - the remaining 12 might take a long time yet to come through. Oh & i noticed after my daughter's first 4 came through (1 by 1) there was a short break & the other 8 came through very quickly & close together!

On his first birthday, my son had 2 teeth. Now, 3 months later, he has 10. I know some children who had no teeth until after their first birthday, some who had a mouthful. It is different for everyone.

Marcus is 16 months now, but when he was a year old he had ten teeth. But that is one of those things that all depends on the kid! They say that it really is how many will she have when she is three. Some kids get all their teeth quickly (Marcus is working on his last two eye teeth and then he will be done for awhile), others take the full three years to get them in...shrug, their timing is their own!

Teething is different for every child. I know. I have 4 kids and they all teethed differently--different rates and different orders, lol. My oldest got her first 2 teeth (bottom middle) at 7 1/2 months old. When she turned 1 she still had just those 2 teeth. She finally got the top 2 middle ones at 13 months. (she is 7 now and it has been slow going losing those teeth as well--she lost 2 just after turning 6 then didn't lose any more until after she turned 7 and currently has 4 missing teeth that are taking forever to come in, lol). My son got his first teeth at 6 months. by the time he turned one he had 8 in front and I think all 4 of his molars and I think his incisors were starting to come in already. My middle daughter didn't have any teeth when she turned 1. Her first tooth started poking through a week or so after her birthday and they didn't come in the normal order. She got her top ones first then the bottom ones and for the longest time she had 2 on bottom and 3 on top. She looked silly, lol. My youngest got her first tooth at 8 1/2 months (last Christmas Eve--2nd one poked through Christmas morning). Hers also came in strangely. She got the bottom 2. Then her tops one came in left to right instead of the middle ones then the outside ones. And the right middle and far right one still aren't all the way in and it has been months. She is 20 months now. At 1 she had 6 teeth.

My one year old son has four teeth. I think the childs teething numbers varies on each children. Some have more teeth at an early stage and some develop at late stage. As long as the child is healthy and good then you don't have to worry anything.

Babies are all different when it comes to getting teeth. Sure there are some general rules but they vary so much. My youngest is 13 months now and has 8 teeth but only had 7 on his birthday, the 8th came in last week.

Teeth come in at different rates for all of us. My daughter had 2 when she was about a year old. One of my nieces had one when she was born. Weird, but true. Don't worry. Right now it's more alarming for me to watch my 7 yr old nephew lose his! 3 teeth gone in under 2 weeks. lol

Haha my daughter just turned 10 months and has 10 teeth already! A smile FULL of teeth. But our doctor told us its not always a good thing for babies to get teeth so young cause actually the younger then are when they get those teeth the weaker the teeth will be. Which makes it much easier for them to chip a tooth at a young age.

My 14 month old boy has 12 teeth now. Is this too much, most kids we see have less? I know everyone says they all come out in different stages, but can one have too much too soon?
