Chameleons as pets?

I've recently stumbled upon a couple of websites that dealt with breeding and keeping chameleons as pets. I fell in love with these colorful animals, and now I'm a bit curious to see if any of you have experience with keeping chameleons as pets?
From what I understood they are in no way a beginner lizard, but I'm still a bit interested in maybe getting a chameleon in a couple of years time.

Wow....back many years ago when I was a kid chameleons were a big thing! We had so much fun watching them turn the color of whatever we would put it on. Some kids even had them on tiny leashes...thanks for bringing back that old memory!
