When do you guys think a baby is old enough to go camping? I'm already looking forward to camping this summer for the fourth of July! My daughter will be 17months old. Do you think she'll be to little?

A child is never too young for camping. Just take a portable playpen with is all. They come in handy if you are cooking or doing other stuff around camp and need a safe place to put the lil one for a bit. Our daughter was 2mo. old on our first camping trip. She was surprisingly quiet and would lay in her playpen or bouncy and take in the scenery. Now that she's 9, can't keep her in camp for nothing. lol She goes off hiking on her own but doesn't go too far away. Always comes back with some sort of treasure she HAS to bring home.

You have a good ideal there with the playpen, my girls loved to camp when they were kids and I don't believe it hurts to take babies as long as thats what you want to do. My girls always found little treasures to bring home too.

I don't think she will be too young, As long as shes warm enough and enjoys herself she should be fine. I hope your camping holiday is fun and warm enough whether to have a fun time doing different activities. Joey's wife

The first time my daughter went, she was 5 months old, of course that was to the hunting cabin. Then we took her camping with us down the beach, south Texas, when she was 10 months old. So in my opinion, no she is not too little. I did buy one of those small travel playpens, and that was great.

I am not sure that there is such a thing as too little for camping. At 17 months (the same age as my son) she will be a lot of work for you. You will have to figure out where and how she will sleep (my son doesn't sleep anywhere but his bed, if he thinks he is missing something he tries to stay awake). But as long as you are thinking that you will have a lot of work (you will have to watch her to make sure she doesn't eat anything...ect.) then you can go on your first camping trip!

I think your baby is old enough to go. I took my daughters camping when they were much younger than that. Just be sure to take some sort of portable playpen. I set it up in the tent at night and let the younger one sleep in it, and used it outdoors during the day while i was cooking etc... My daughters loved being out in the woods and still do now that they are adults.
