Lately I've been battling a terrible case of painfu; heartburn. I figure it's just the stress of the holidays. Between the money, gifts, decorating and shopping there is certainly enough to give anyone heartburn. I do not like to take medications of any kind unless it is absolutely neccessary, so I wanted to know if anyone had a natural home remedy to help with these symptoms.

I know people who swear vinegar does the trick. Apples cider vinegar works best, but regular vinegar should help.

What do you do with the vinegar, use it plain by the spoonful?

Yup, plain by the spoonful. It doesn't take much. A spoonful or 2 should help.

I have Acid Reflux so I had a lot of heartburn before I was put on prescription Prevacid. But I still get heartburn once in awhile, and many other tummy ailments because I have fibromyalgia related IBS. As someone else said, sucking on peppermints DOES help. I also drink a tea called Eater's Digest which is a concotion of digestive aids including peppermint. And my final remedy for stomach problems in Aloe Vera Juice. I don't drink it every day, only when I am having some kind of tummy upset. I drink 1/4 cup with juice added to it. I'm not sure whether it will help heartburn in particular but it is good for the digestion and heartburn is a reaction to bad digestion. I hope you get some relief soon.

I have chronic pancreatitis and have to take enzymes to help digest my food, I also am supposed to take a prescription called Protonix for acid everyday but it's so expensive and money is so tight this month that I couldn't afford to pick it up, but I did say above I am gonna give the peppermint a try. Thanks for your help:)

I had bad heartburn while I was pregnant. I stayed away from spicy food. Also staying away from foods high in salt was helpful. Then I would drink milk. I know this sounds strange, but sucking on peppermints also seemed to help. Hope these are helpful.

I'll try the milk and peppermints and let you know if it worked. As for the spicy food, I have avoided it. Thanks.
