Ethanol gets less mpg than gasoline, but is a short term solution. All oil companies put 10% ethanol in the gasoline.

I think the ethanol in theory is a good fuel alternative, it has less energy than gasoline but it's a more clean alternative to that. The problem is the production of this kind of fuel: it is extracted from plants so we need many areas.
