i am from the philippines and when we eat chicken we eat almost all the parts. from blood to neck, feet and inside organs as well. the best way to make a stock from chicken as my mom told us is to use the neck or the feet. it is the cheapest part of the chicken so i but a lot and bring it to a boil and keep it. use it if i need it. so how do you make your own chicken stock? do you use the ready mades you buy on the groceries?

When I have time, I prepare my own stock, but use Knorr or Bovril cubes when I need stock in a jiffy. I can get the low sodium cubes, which I prefer.

wow I didn't know that chicken blood is commonly consumed too. Is that in the form of solidified cubes? I've seen that before but it was of pig's blood. Personally, I don't make stock since I don't cook that often. But I've heard of using the portions that are not edible like the feet to make stock. I've also heard of people freezing the stock into ice cubes, so it's very convenient to take the cubes out and use as many as you need for one dish! great idea eh? I've not bought the ready made chicken stock cubes from the supermarket either. i think those are rather artificial.

I use Sweet Sues. Its from the can. It's easy its quick. I think it tastes good. Cannot honestly say I'd be able to make it from neck and feet. If I couldn't get it in the can I suppose Knorr would be my next pick.

When we got chicken in the house and it has to be boiled, we keep the liquid. If there isnt chicken we use the ready ones we buy from supermarket.I mean, we dont boil chicken just to get the stock and freeze it or something...but if we boil chicken, we always keep the stock :)

Here in the United State you don't get the chicken feet or inside organs unless you go to a chicken farm and kill the chicken yourself. You can get the feet and necks and backs from some stores. When I find the backs and necks I do make chickem stalk. I simmer the beacks and necks along with some celery carrots and onions. I also add some herbs such as rosemary sage and tyme and salt to taste. add a little bit of hot sauce. After the meat falls off the chicken backs I pull the larger pieces off and toss the vegetables. Then I have killer chicken stock

I don't have the luxury of time so I buy when I need it..instant ba? but sure it would be more delicious and healthy if we prepared it on our own.. And the chicken neck..my cousin's favorite..as in she'll always look for it on every chicken menu..

i normally buy it from the grocery stores and I used it when I am cooking rice. It's just so nice when you put the chicken stock in your rice when it's cooking, and smells good too. This is called Chicken Rice in Malaysia and Singapore. You can try first the Chicken Rice before you cook. Try going to Mall of Asia. There's a Singapore restaurant there, where you can try the chicken rice. It's not that expensive, averaging around 130PHP per person.
