It is a winter bird here hardly seen in the summer, which usually stays in the deep forest/woods in the summer and comes out to find seeds in the winter from bird feeders.I started feeding them this fall and enjoy having them around and watching them. They will even come eat a piece of bread in your hand if your patient enough and they become use to seeing you alot. They are a easy bird to tame and i love this kind of small bird with its black head and song which is "CHICK-A-DEE-DEE".Its almost as if it's posing for me in our big evergreen tree which it hides in from predators that is close to the feeders.Which wild bird is your favorite?and do you enjoy watching them?

Great photo! My favorite wild bird is the bald eagle, I think they are so beautiful. I have only seen a couple of them up close. Very pretty birds.

We love our chickadee's. They are very friendly, and the first bird to arrive at a feeder when I put out food. We see them year round in northern minnesota (the cabin). In southern minnesota, where we live the other half of the time, we have them mostly in the winter. They are very industrious, and are one of the few birds that must eat every day. Good picture!

Oh i know about the eating thing, haha.I fill the feeders everyday because it seems for small birds they eat well, lol. One seed at a time, breaking it on a branch, then having to fly back for another one to start the routine over. Not like blue jays who grab a mouth full and swallow like piggies, hahaha! They can clean a feeder out in no time, even in one sitting. Right about those Blue Jays. They are totally snotty. They 'cache' the bird seed; swallow as much as they can, go hide it, and do it all again. We get Canada Jays, too. They are friendly like Chickadees, but much, much bigger. They are not noisy like Blue Jays, and don't cache.

Thank-you!:)I stood there like 15 minutes waiting for one to come and one was more confortable with me than the others. This one always waits for me to fill the feeders and even comes to land on the feeder in my hand before i even get it on the stand, haha.I put some sunflower seeds on the branch to "help" coax it,HEHE(sneaky) Peanutjar:)

We are lucky enough to have them around all year; they are very lovely birds. Thanks for sharing your special moment; such a nice "warm-and-fuzzy", it brings a smile to my face.

Very pretty. We only have sparrows in the winter, where I live. And they aren't a very pretty bird, so it is nice to see this picture. I hope you enjoy the birds you have at this time of year. Your lucky.

I have alot of sparrows that come here every summer to nest in our big bushes in front of my bedroom window.I leave the window open to hear their singing, they are song sparrows, but not that pretty like you said, haha.Nice music though.I try to put out alot of different food to attract different birds.I had snow birds come yesterday, they are tiny and white with brown tipped wings.I would like to get a cardinal but havent so far, only blue jays which are ear pierceing for the ears, haha! Peanutjar:)

That's a great pic! I love all kinds of birds and need to get some bird seed to toss out to them. At the end of summer, our maintence man came around to power wash our porchs and I had to run out and caution him not to disturb the little bird nest we have in the corner of our porch. I'll get a pic of it today and post it for you to see. It's been here since we moved in and the birds still use it. HAPPY NEW YEAR!! **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

It use to be alot of nests around my house but one day a hawk had found a nest, dragging it to the ground and well, you know. One big sparrow was left and was always singing for the others and looked sad, going back to what was left of the nest in the bush. Finally it left,i missed its singing alot.:(:(
