Male cat attacking?

Our other male cat, he just turned a year old. He's been fixed, and ever since he was, he attacks me for no reason. He gets into these moods and sometimes I just get close to him and he swipes at me. One time he bit me in the face and drew blood. This cat is a pain in the you know what, he attacks his father(the one I posted about his claws), and literally pulls out handfuls of fur from him. He scratches any and all furniture, pees on the floor where ever he chooses to, and begs for food even though he's been fed. He begs for human food. When he's not in his moods, he's fine. He will be a lap cat, will even sleep with me most nights. I'm getting fustrated with this cat, and I'm not sure what to do. I've tried eye contact and a firm voice on some occasions when he's clawed me up, but it doesn't work. What should I do?

Did you just recently get him fixed? You say he's a year old, last I knew they recommend doing it at 3-4 months for male cats.

We got him fixed in August, he was almost 8 months old.

Maybe he blames you for the loss of his male cathood :-) Some cats seem to be dedicated scratchers. My male has completely shredded the backs of my armchairs, which were already pretty well scratched up from the attentions of previous generations of cats, but he's finished them off entirely. He also like to place his paw on my face with his claws partly out. I think that he's just being affectionate... but he did draw blood one time when he got my lip.

Yeah I kinda thought that being fixed would have been part of the reason. It crosssed my mind once.

He sounds like a real terror. I have one myself. He's seven years now. If I had not done the following, my furniture would have been in tatters. etc. I gave him a 'two finger' tap on the nose with a hiss. Just like the mommy cat would do whenever kittens are naughty; give them a tap on the nose, and hiss. (Doesn't have to be a hard tap). My Eddie will draw back in surprise when I would do that. Like I said - it worked for me. Good luck/Happy New Year
