what do you expect of the cable guy?

Would you want the cable guy to come to your house at 8 pm at night or later? Would you want him to come on holidays? Would you want him to move your furniture? Would you try to sue him for putting a hole in your wall to install the cable? (You cannot run a cable line into a room without putting a hole in the wall or floor!) Would you get mad when you order high speed internet but it doesn't make a difference on your Windows 98 computer with a tiny processor, RAM, hard drive, and outdated internet explorer? Would you tip him? Give him chocolate covered pretzles? Let you dog slober all over him? Let your kids climb on him? Offer him a beer and a sandwich? I am just trying to find out why people do what they do...my husband works for a cable company and some of these stories he tells me are just crazy...some are nice, others make you really wonder what is wrong with people!

No I'm surprised some work as late as they do and we always have what is needed moved to already be moved, regular cable are usually on time and thay have all been nice. Now we've been waiting on Direct tv to show up and I've moved stuff twice in the bedroom and I'm already beginning to regret leaving cable for satellite, this much trouble getting installed wonder about any repair problems. I miss my cable and I'm sure he meets all kinds of kooks!

Its just cable I wont die if it doesnt work till the next regular work day. 2) No I want him to spend the holidays with his family. 3) Heck no I wouldnt sue for something I asked him to do 4) Its the cable guys fault your PC is outdated 5) I'd let my 5 million cats climb all over him

the cats make me laugh...some of those guys are highly allergic to the pets :) I'm sure you've got some good stories!

I kind of figured where this one was going! We are pretty much at the mercy of the cable guy, so when he "disconnected" the neighbor's broadband by taking a large shears and cutting through OUR cable instead of tackling the switch on their box (why does this sort of thing only happen during the most important football game of the season?), we tried to remain calm and politely inquired how long it might take to fix it. We have no pets or kids, and although we might glance down when he begins to march across our white carpet with his outdoor shoes on, but we don't say anything, even though the folks who come in to maintain our A/C system put on little disposable booties over their shoes. If the cable guy comes out on a holiday or after 5 p.m. and acts halfway polite and does his work, yes, we tip him. Most of the cable guys are really sweet, but in truth some of them have been hum-dingers. We don't have any antiquated computer equipment lying around, but I should think high speed internet through any cable company would make a vast difference even with a tiny processor, so anybody complaining about that probably needs to defrag their hard drive and quit blaming the cable guy for that one. Your hubby probably has some hair-raising stories he'd like to tell!

that sounds like a cable guy who didn't know what he was doing when he cut the wrong line...there are a lot of those out there! the turnover rate for cable guys is ridiculous, they go through about 25 each month where my hubby works. Thanks for the response!
