Do you donate to charities?

I was organizing a benefit concert years ago to get money to help a community of Nuns. We got donated items like a tv and sold raffle tickets for a drawing after the concert. The tickets were $1 each. I remember one man wouldn't even buy one ticket. He said, "I work! Tell them to go get a job!" This particular community of Nuns spends most of their time in prayer and in giving Life in the Spirit Seminars for which they accept any donations. I was shocked at this man's opinion. I appreciate all of the prayers I can get and feel it is important work in itself. What do you think?

Rarely. I used to donate a lot to Habitat For Humanity. But the last few years I don't have as much money as I uses to so I don't donate as much because I don't have the money. I plan on donating more next year because it's something I want to do more of.

I do, when I can. I do volunteer work and I donate items that are needed. Money is pretty hard for me to come by these days, so I don't donate money as much as I'd like to. That guy was a jerk for saying what he said. If he didn't want to buy the ticket, he shouldv'e just said no and left it at that. A horrible explaination like that is just stupid and wrong.

Sometimes donating your time is more valuable and you get the self-satisfaction out of seeing something good happen.

I commend you for your charitable projects. Yes, I give to Unicef when I have some extra money. That guy you encountered should be thankful that he has a job. Not everyone is as fortunate. That's why we need to share our blessings.

I have donated to charities. And I think that is a awesome thing you did was to organize a benefit concert to raise money for the nuns. I think what this man said, was wrong. But that is something he has to live with. I too appreciate all the prayers that I can get. The power of prayer is an awesome thing!

I think that we have a duty to humanity to donate our time or money to charity. I have a feeling that people who are not givers are missing out on some of the best things in life. When I was a young apprentice, I helped to build an orphanage in Sicily. It was all volunteer and it was one of those jobs that just make you feel good.

I mostly donate "stuff" since cash is sometimes hard to come by. I will give all my old clothes, housewares, whatever is still usuable to Goodwill, the churches, AmVets, whatever. I also have donated some of the blankets I've crocheted for charity auctions. When I know someone that's in a walk or something I will usually donate if I can. I also want to give money every year to The Chesapeake Bay Foundation in honor of my father, but I've never had the money. I should be able to this year though.

I think it is a great idea myself. I mean there are a lot of people that can't work and need help and support from others.I have given my old clothes to Good Will and before Christmas I payed to go see lights because the donated their money to a childerns hospital. I think it is a wonderful idea.

I think you did a good thing and his take is uncharitable. Don't worry about his attitude, he's wrong. Unless he changes his attitude, it will be judged against him at the end.

I used to donate money to things like the Red Cross and Cancer Society and such but not anymore. I used to donate at work and since I no longer work I don't anymore through them. Then I used to send them money on my own but when they started phoning me and sending me things in the mail I quit. They started to make me feel like it was a bill I had to pay, not a donation. I have donated things from my house that I no longer use, to the Diabetis Society but not money anymore. I think when we donate money now most of it goes to wages not to the cause.
