How many of us say a Thank You to God everyday of our lives ?

India
January 2, 2008 1:21am CST
I learnt in life to say thank you to God everyday of my life and sorry for my sins too. As a youngster I took life for granted and all its benefits bestowed upon me by the Good Lord. It is only when I started having problems and had to grow up in a hurry that I realised how selfish I had been all these years not to have said Thank you and sorry to God. I thank him everyday now for everything he has given me and also say a sorry for my intentional and non intentional sins. Please start today if you dont. Everybody, I suppose likes to be thanked, even dear God though he may not expect it of us.

It would be best to say thank you to God as often as we can, not just before meals. Anyway, its a very good habit and God Bless you too and give you the best in life . Have a wonderful 2008

It`s a good habbit -it doesnt matter if we believe in God or in a Supreme Power. To thank means that we open the channels to get more and more goodies. But we must do it not mechanically, just with our heart.

I usually say that phrase so dearly every time I need to. When I am in a traffic jam, get a mishap in traffic, manage to draw some bucks from the ATM, enjoy a meal, countless things I say "Thank you God" for. I just feel he is a very gacious being and has great influence and bearing on my life. However, I respect other people's beliefs too.

Its a perfect habit. Just a small prayer said from the bottom of our heart or a simple thank you means a lot. I too respect other p eoples beliefs and religions and understand that all religions lead to the same Almighty.Thank you too and have a wonderful 2008

You have made a powerful statement. Thanking God every single day for all the blessings he bestowed on us and all the lessons that He sent our way is very important. Often times, people go through life wanting this and wanting that...but when they receive, they fail to thank the one responsible for bringing it forth. Without God, we wouldn't be here and we cannot forget that. Before your head lands on your pillow at night...thank Him. When your feet touches the floor at the start of a new day...thank Him. Thank Him for everything and as often as you could. He is the greatest thing that has happened to us and many are too blind to see. Thank you for this posting. Be blessed and always positive.

Yes, so often in life we take little things for granted without realing how much we have with His Grace. I do say my prayers before sleeping but not immediately when I get out of bed. I shall try to do it. Thank you so much. Cheers and have a blessed 2008

As a religious Jew, one says proscribed prayers 3 times a day and within those prayers are a minimum of 100 thanks to G'd. There is also the Shma which is said before sleep every night and the blessings before and after each meal. There are also the blessings for all the wonders we see each day as we go about our daily tasks. Each day no matter how mundane is filled with small wonders that we should be thankful for! It lifts the spirit and makes each day more lovely than the one before! La Shana Tova! Happy New Year! Adoniah

Magica said "It`s a good habbit -it doesnt matter if we believe in God or in a Supreme Power" and I somewhat agree...I personally DO NOT believe in god and I personally DO NOT "thank" any higher being/power etc for anything...BUT I appreciate just 'being' every day..I appreciate how fortunate I am and how I've succeeded in my life against the odds and so on...Which IMO is just as proper, valid and right as thanking someone/something.... I will NEVER however apologise for anything I've done in my life....there is no need to say "I'm sorry" for reacting that way/doing this/saying that/feeling this and so on...Just like everythign that has happened to me in life was for a reason, even the horrible things, everything I have done in life whether good or bad was also for a reason so I see no need to say I'm sorry for that..why would I ya know...I'm NOT sorry...

Well its Ok if you dont believe in God or some supreme power that governs us. The fact that you appreciate the good fortune you have and understand that there is a reason for the happenings in life, it is your own way of surrending to God. Your type of surrender is the best. Doing it unknowingly and understanding the importance of happeings. Cheers for 2008

I say Thank You to God however, i admit that there are really days which i do forget to say it.. But as much as i communicate with Him, i always say my thanks to Him. I owe Him my life, my everything. My thank you is not even enough for all that He has given me. Humbly, i ask him to shower more His blessings upon me everyday. A grateful heart, i know, the Lord will appreciate so much.. just as i also appreciate those people who remembers to say thank you to me even for just a little, tiny bit things i do for them. I guess we should develop this virtue of being thankful always and the virtue of humility.

Having a humble heart is most of the battle won. It is not everybody who can be humble in life. Keep up the good work. You are going to be a big time hit with dear God.lol.

Hi kety, Yes, I say "thank you" to God everyday! He blesses me beyond measure every single day of my life. He loves me more than I can ever imagine and He so deserves our thanks and our praise! We need to confess our sins daily and ask for forgiveness. He is such a forgiving God! He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, into this world to save it from sin. He made a way for us to be with Him forever in Heaven! Yes, THANK YOU, JESUS!! Praise God!:)

We all take all the good that happens in life for granted, and its only when we suffer or are saved from something unpleasent that we remember Him. It is only human and we can try to do better. You are basically a very good person so you will learn to say a thank you everyday. God bless.

I think it's interesting the things we take for granted. I have one better for you....ketybhagat....When was the last time you thanked Him for the breath you take? We take so many without thinking about it. Thank you God for the very breath you give me that is there, each time I take it without even thinking about it.

Well i do thank God for the things and life and regret my sins, however i haven't done it everyday. It's hard for me to do it everyday because i have so many things in mind that i just forget.I know it's no excuse but it does happen that way. It's not easy to do that when you have never done that before. But maybe one day i will succeed to thank God everytday.

Never mind, the fact that you do regret at times also means a lot to Him. When you pass a church, temple or whatever, just bow for a second and say thank you. They are the best reminders of God. I know you will succeed. Better late than never.

i've learned to thank God everyday since i met a good man in my life who gave a big part on my spiritual development. every morning i would ask for His blessings and before i sleep i would thank God for those blessings and "report" on how i used those and how I gave Him glory with those blessings.

A good man means a spiritual Guru or an ordinary man who is good and spiritual enough to guide us. Yes, we must count His blessings and be grateful for all that we have and especially when we meet the less fortunate. Cheers and have a wonderful 2008

Nope, I used to say thanks but learned that God just wants us to acknoledge him, no thanks needed. Of course that I seek to live my life that reflect his love is most likely thanks enough. To do more puts one in danger of showing pride of ones position, much like the Jews were doing during the time of Jesus and if you read Matthew 23:37-39 you can see where that path goes. (I could easily type out the passage, but if your too prideful already that you don't need to read what Jesus says, then my preaching to you will do the same thing that happens when one tries to teach a pig to sing, its aggravates you and frustrates me.)

Very very good. When we see the suffering of others, that is the time to ask for pardon for our sins and thank him for all he has done for us. Wonderful attitude. keep it up. Cheers for 2008

I try to say Thank You to God every morning at least. For me, it is being grateful for simple things, waking up, having enough to eat, a car to drive, etc. Being grateful is the exact opposite of self-pity. You can't have a grateful 'heart' and feel sorry for yourself. I am not as good at looking for those things I should hold precious, but at least I do try.

You have hit the nail on the head. How many of us can be happy with what little we have and thank God for it. It is only self pity when we see othres better off than us. Good Going. Keep it up and cheers for 2008

I think I do say thank you and I am sorry to God most of the time. But I don't say it on a habitual basis. I say it when I mean it. Saying sorry because I have done a particular bad thing is right, but when I repeat the bad thing, and then I say sorry, I think it should not be like that. Sorry means trying not to do it again. Saying thank you, means I am grateful to what has been given, and it should reflect to my day to day life that I am blessed by God. And by being grateful, I must be able to share his blessings with others. I say it, and I also mean it.
