That's a great question. I wouldn't have known the answer until a month or two ago. You can go to www.yahoo.com and set up a free e-mail address. Once this is done, you will automatically use your e-mail address (without the "@yahoo.com" part) as your ID for chatting purposes. You can then download Yahoo Messenger onto your computer for free also. Everything is completely free, so if you see something about paying for any of the services along the way, that's definitely not what you want to do! Once you have Yahoo Messenger set up on your computer, you can go to www.yahoo.com to access your e-mail and chatting services. You don't necessarily have to have the Yahoo Messenger downloaded to chat. You can access the chat options through the website. I do this from my work computer frequently as we can't download anything onto our computers. Yahoo is a great program to work with.
