Waiting at the gas station to put gas in your car.

Do you get annoyed when people pull up to the pump and park there but are not there to put gas in their car? Instead of putting gas in their car they go into the store and go shopping. I feel that if they are not there to fill gas they should park in the parking lot instead. That way people who need to fill their tank up can do so quicker. It okay to pull up to pump if they are putting gas in and need to buy some items.

I do get annoyed with this. But, I try not to get overworked about it. Life is too short to get upset over things you have no control over. I just smile at them and nod my head as they return to their vehicle.

I am guilty of such a thing:( But here in my small city they don't have a parking lot besides the pumps.. So I do pull up next to the pump. We dont have the "lag" of the big ciities:)

Yes my dear friend I totally agree with you. We do however live in a world where courteous people and common sense no longer prevail. Unfortunate!!!

You are definitely right about there not being any courteous people or people with common sense anymore or very few of them. What happened to the days when people were courteous and respectful and showed common sense?

I try to not get annoyed because I likely do not know the situation- it does seem common courtesy to move the car before going in to the store, especially if going to do some shopping - but, maybe they are afraid someone will accuse them of driving off without paying. you can not use that pump until he's paid for his fill anyhow, right? also it could be he pulled up to pump and a message showed saying you must pay in advance so he ran in to pay first. I just try to not let such things upset me - life is happier when we take things in stride, don't you think?

That's realy annoying, although I have never experienced it in any of the gas station in our city. People gas up and go...they could not stay longer than necesary, otherwise it would be a riot. If ever after gassing up they need to pick up some things from the convenience store, they move out to the parking place near the store to give way to other gasoline patrons....in your case, you call the attention of management not to tolerate such practice. It's not just anoying, they will also cause unnecessary delays to other people. If you have to continue patronizing that gas station, management should strictly impose such policy.

I totally agree with you. It is very annoying to sit there and wait for someone to fool around in the store. They should park in the spaces in the lot instead of at the pump. How have you been, I haven't seen you around on mylot for awhile. I hope things are good. Happy New Year Ken, I hope its a good one for you.

Yes, gas stations have parking spots for a reason and should be used if they are just picking up some items in the store. I am doing better and getting over bronchitis. Happy New Year to you too. Hope you had a great holiday season.

This has not happened too often but it did the other day and was waiting a long time for this person to come out of the store. I ended up pulling around to another pump that became available. I am not sure wherelse but at our gas stations, there is plenty of available parking for people who just want to get some items from the store.

This incident happened to me once. It really made me annoyed as I had to waste my precious time to wait for them to come out. The parents and their kids seemed to enjoy buying snacks in the store and never realized that someone was waiting eagerly behind their car quite some time. In this circumstance a person will definitely feel angry if he is in a hurry. So it is impolite and is not encouraged to do that.

I also do not like this. I have had a lot of people go to the gas pumps and camp out in the store forever before finally returning. All this does is keep me from moving on with my life after adding gas to my vehicle. You would think that people would have a little more consideration for others.

I can't say I have buddy. I don't drive, like I've mentioned before I guess I would be annoyed somewhat. I try to let most things past me, it makes a large difference to not blow smoke up but I know how it feels. ~Joey

These people really need discipline in them. They should respect others in a way. Everything has its own place. There should be policies stating that they should only park at a given place.

Yeap! I would get very annoyed. I think that is why most our of petrol stations, still have attendants... eventhough there was a time we were told that we had to pump fuel ourselves (self-service). But, i think it is for the better... the customers normally would take awhile to walk to and back from the cashier - so, the attendants, who are normally already waiting at the pump - would immediately fill in the gas when signalled by the cashier, and by the time we get back to our car - we're ready to go. That is the ups and downs of our 'modern' petrol-station, i guess. Now that most stations do have a convenience store - customers would stop to shop, even if they dont want to buy petrol - but they should have 'enough common sense', as to not cause any inconvenience to the other customers... peace!

one of the gas stations that we go to is always packed but has good gas than alot of the other ones... they sit in their car unstead of pulling ahead and others just pull up to the first pump when you can pull up another 3.. how rude is that... others go in to pay for their gas and play those little pull tickets... and then they sit there for 30 mins... i sat at the pump (due to me being blocked in) i was in a hurry that day as well so rushing was not a good thing... 2 little old gentlement had their car in front me meanwhile they were standing in the store playing those dumb pull tickets.. 15 mins passed and i asked the gas attendant where the ppl are in front of me... i went into the store after waiting another 5 mins and totally freaked... was i ever mad... at least have courtisty for other ppl

I agree, there are spaces for the ones that don't need gas. It is silly that people pull up to pumps just to shop. I do sometimes get annoyed.

Hi, Kgwat70. I hear ya. It is very annoying. I try very hard not to be one of those people. If I am not there to buy gas, I don't park anywhere near the gas pumps. Some people aren't very considered of others sometimes.
