Can we talk abour favorite 'places' and 'spaces?'

Hammock in the garden...a favorite place - This is a photo of me lying in my hammock on a sunny fall day. The hammock and our garden is among one of my favorite places and spaces...and I don't have to travel anywhere to enjoy it!

While I was responding to the discussion on screen savers some of you commented that you had images of your favorite places. That got me to wondering what other favorite 'places' and 'spaces' you might want to discuss. The reason I said places and spaces is because a couple of my favorite 'spaces' are right here at home. I love my office space as I sit at my computer, surrounded by my owls, gifts and sacred objects, flickering candles and scents from my essential oil pots and music playing in the background while chatting to fascinating people from all around the world. I also love the meditating sanctuary on the highest peak of our house...and of course another favorite place or space is our garden in the summer...it is our outdoor living room and I love being out there. The great room in our house is also another one on my list. It has high peaked ceilings with a lot of brick and wood with a ski lodge effect. Being down there and snuggling with David and our pets is a delightful place and space...as are the rolling hills surrounding our little town. I could go on and on...but I think you get the idea and I don't want to bore you with the details of my 'faves' because I want to hear about yours. In terms of travel David and I are very drawn to the Southwest...particularly the grand canyons and Moab, Utah. We also put British Columbia and the magnificent nature areas there among our favorite places to travel. So how about you? Care to discuss some of your favorite places and spaces...be they at home or far, far away. I would also be interested in knowing why they are so special to you and if you have a chance to enjoy them as often as you'd like. Here we have another fun way to learn more about who we are and what gives meaning to our lives. Thanks for all the enjoyable chats we share...and as you respond...so will I and we'll keep the flow going. Best regards as we share our travels near and far. Raia

Yes, those born under that sign do like the comfort and security of their homes...and even though I am a Capricorn (who likes a feeling of security) home is among my favorite spaces and places as I mentioned. Yep...I know the fricking fracking feeling when I double post...or miss errors and post them that way. Firefox is great because it underlines spelling and typos and I love that feature. Happy nesting! Raia

Since I was little, I've always enjoyed being outdoors. Anything outdoorsy or nature involved, you'd probably find me there. It's where I've always found the most peace, and have been able to get muddled thoughts to come to a clearing of understanding. Though my favorite of all the outdoor things would have to be, being up in the mountains. When I was a teen, my Mom and I would go camping up in the mountains as a mother/daughter thing a couple weekends a month. Gave us the opportunity to bond a bit better and just talk about mother/daughter sort of things. Since that time, going up in the mountains, has always had special meaning to me, and really brings back happy memories. I wish I had the chance to go to my favorite spot every day, but unfortunately, with a family life and a busy work schedule, I don't get the opportunity much, am hoping to this summer when the weather gets warmer, and the atmosphere more stable. Storms ugh! :)

I agree storms...ugh! I am three weeks behind in responding to this...but here I am again. I love what you describe as your favorite places and spaces...they are akin to mine. Anytime we are out in nature David and I feel our aura's expand. It puts everything into perspective alright. Your special times with your mom sound delightful and my mom and I did things like that too. Oh yes, summer would be nice...we are expecting a blizzard any time now...all of Canada is RED! Raia

Hello my dear raia. My favorite places are as follows: my apartment where I live and relax, my office where I work every day to prepare my lessons, the mountain close to the town where I love to go for a bike-riding during my days off for relaxation, the beautiful and clean pond where few people go as not many people have found it, the top of my apartment where I love to go for the enjoyment of sunshine in winter when it is warm and enjoy the cool wind on summer nights, the nice and big supermarkets where I am fond of going there for shopping, and so on. They are all of my favorite places and space. Also mylot is my favorite space to have always a very conversation with mylotters on different topics which make me think and keep my mind active without getting it to be rusty, which is so good in exercising the brain to be active and positive. I thank you very much for your nice discussion as always, my dear raia, a perspective friend.

Once again it is enjoyable to me to hear what you enjoy and adds to the quality of your life while you are in your special places and spaces. Your bike trails sound exquisite to ride through...I am sure it give you a feeling of peace and expansiveness. Your roof top setting also sounds delightful...often the places that give us the most sustained feeling of happiness and support are right under our noses. Wonderful when people have an attitude of gratitude and can bloom where they are planted. Your appreciation and participation in perspectives topics as much to them..thanks my valued on-line friend. I hope you don't mind but I did it again... and dug out another old discussion of yours. :) There's only one favorite place I can think of, my sister's home. The one I was telling you about. She lives at Bataan and I live here at Bulacan. We're separated by a three to four hour drive, if there's no traffic. She doesn't know that her home is my favorite place to go to. It's our secret! lol But seriously, whenever I need a long time-out from what I do everyday, I want to go to her place. There, I can relax, laugh out loud and chat non-stop. It's like I'm going back to my old, merry self again. It's not that I don't like my life now. My husband and my son are my life but sometimes, you know, responsibilities can sometimes be pretty serious to carry. I really don't know the right words to say it but let me put it this way. When I'm with my sisters, after my visit with them, I end up with a sore throat. :) I guess, due to too much chatting and laughing with them. They tell me I talk a mile the minute I see them. The truth is, Raia, I just miss them very much.... As for my favorite spaces, the one you know already, is the garden. Even if my back kills me after hours of weeding, at least my mind gets some peace and quiet. The other one is our bedroom with the big TV inside. hahaha! When I'm not in the mood to go online and I still can't sleep, I go into movie marathon mode. Yap! I can watch two to three movies in one sitting. I can do that because I make a habit of pressing the forward button, when the scene gets a little boring for me. So, instead of the usual two hour movie, it ends up into one hour!

Hi,my favorite space is in our basement recreation room which is all open and has a corner for my daughters play room, the second living room(a small one)in the middle,a room for my crafts and also another corner which is like an open office area with my computer.I love it down here:) My favorite place is egypt for me,i have never been there before but am sooooo intrigued of the pyrimids and the woman of egypt and of the times of the past long ago.I wish i lived back in that time for some odd reason,i wish i was like them living there centuries ago,but of course as a queen, haha! The next cat i would like to have is an "egyptian miau" cat:):) Peautjar:)

As I mentioned in the response above often the best and most favorite place...is home and surrounding areas. From your comments you have created the best of all world in your space. Ah yes, Egypt holds fascination for me too and I have a statue of Isis, a some pyramids and a miniature sphinx on a shelf about my desk. I value their emphases on Goddesses as well as Gods. Very interesting culture alright. You will have to be sure and post a picture and discussion when you get your cat...love to see a photo of him/her being the cat person that I am. Raia

This planet Earth is one of my favorite places. And one of my favorite spaces is internal, where the physical me blends with the non-physical me.
