I know the obvious, write more and quality articles to get writing stars, but I don't quite get the exact idea. Earlier I thought that writing more was the criteria but than discovered that I had more than 50 articles up and yet no star while some had just 15 articles and still had a writing star (good for them). So can anybody tell me how exactly to earn writing stars on helium?

Well, the numbers have been explained. However, I will add a touch more. Because they take out the bottom 10% of your articles the more you write, the easier it is to get that star (your ten percent grows, at 15 articles you can only have one bad article taken out but at 150 articles you get 15 articles taken out). Also, the more you rate the more your articles are rated. So, rating often helps your score go up.

I didn't even know you could get stars on Helium lol. Lots of new stuff to me! I've written 42 articles and quite a few of them are highly rated. Where do I see the stars that I have earned? Do they do anything special for me?

The stars are on your about me page. There are blue stars for writing, yellow stars for rating. There is a promotion going on now that pays you for any articles you write between now and April 14 if you have at least one writing star and three rating stars. Pay is $1 for one writing star $1.50 for two, $2 for 3 stars and so on.

I don't have any stars X.X How do you get them? I have a lot of well written articles, and I vote everytime I get on. Is it difficult to earn stars??

I was over at Helium one day and saw a "writing star" on my profile and didn't even know what it was until they sent one of those congratulations write more e-mail reminders. So then I looked it up. Way too complicated for me, but I appreciate that my fellow Helium users were nice enough to like my articles and rate them well, especially as those with the better ratings seem to pay a little more. Good luck to everyone here who is trying to get stars, as those with enough stars can earn extra money from the bonus offers they make...only read the fine print, lol. I think I rate a lot, but have never managed to get a star for rating, only one for writing. Dunno if it will stay there or not!

Your articles, on average, need to be rated in the top 25%, but they don't count the worst 10%. You get one star for up to 40 articles (I think) and two for 40- 100 articles. If you have a bunch of low ranking articles, rewrite and leapfrog them to increase your overall ranking and hopefully get a star. I have about 40 articles and no star, but I've been leapfrogging like crazy trying to get one.
