Hello Friends,
Recently i got an opportunity to attend a seminar on Cyber Crime in one of the colleges...and the topic of discussion there was something that many of us r aware of but still unaware about it....
"STAGENOGRAPHY"....hope m spelling it correctly...its an act of hiding things within other things...still confusing...
"STAGENOGRAPHY" is generally used by the terrorists and coders to transfer secret data or information to the desired location without been noticed by others....
"Osama-Bin-Laden"-The MasterMind Behind The Degradation Of Twin TOwers is considered as the Father of Stagenography....This technique usually involves the hiding of data behind mp3 files or images or any other files but more importantly can be viewed only by a "Stagenographic Decoder"....
Till date there haven't been proper decoders yet discovered for this and thus its mystery is yet to be solved....
Friends,Thats the only information i have about it and even Google doesn't provide sufficient information.....
So if u feel like sharing information about it please do share with me....m eager to discover more facets about "STAGENOGRAPHY"...
Help me in unfolding the mystery of "STAGENOGRAPHY"..............

Its indeed true that Osama is considered the father of STAGENOGRAPHY....The way of his working with his associates indicates the use of Stagenographic means to convey the messages....well thanx for commenting and do send me any information related to it if u happen to discover it...thanx again...

I know that this has been around for a long time, I was reading about it 10 years ago or more (an eternity in Internet terms) As the previous poster says, it's a technique for hiding data inside another dataset. For instance it might be used to conceal a trojan or other spyware program that will copy information from your computer and send it to whoever hid it.

Hi,...
Basically Stagenography is a technique of hiding data behind something. Stagenography is of three types, mainly.
1) Picture Stagenography
2) Audio Stagenography
3) Video Stagenography
In all of three types, Audio Stagenography is easy to understand and to implement.
In Audio Stagenography we hide our message in an Audio file. For this we use many algorithms. (LSB is one of the best algo). Manupulation can be done at byte level or bit level but, bit level is more secured.....
