what spoils a good movie to you?

the good old dvd - the dvd, digitial versatile disc.
no more rewinding and no more jumpy crackly pictures.
but when it goes wrong, it goes wrong big time.

you know the scenario, you are all set to watch this movie, youve got the dvd in the player, just ready to watch it, youre 1/2 way through it and: 1. the doorbell goes 2. the phone goes 3. someone keeps talking through it 4. someone is making lots of noise 5. the dvd wont play properly 6. you forget the time and have to go out what spoils it for you and why, i think the worst one is when you go to the store and get rent the dvd put it into the player. you get half way through it and it starts going all blocky and clicking, then you try cleaning it and blowing in the dvd player, but it still wont work. i will probably spend 20-30mins trying to get it to work, when i know it would be quicker to go back to the store and complain. what are your quirks?

when i sit down to watch a movie i will be just comfortable and someone wants something.my son then wants to start a conversation, just at the good bits and then i have to rewind to see what i have missed.sometimes i think its better to watch a ggod movie when they are all in bed.cheers sue

Other people talking about the movie or saying things like "Oh, watch this!", "This is funny!" right before it happens. Or someone getting up and walking in front of the screen or tv.

ah, i hate that too. i'm sure nobody did it to them the first time they watched the movie. just because they've watched it doesn't mean they have to point out every single good bit.

I agree with you. I hate renting movies so now i just go and see them or wait to buy them myself because the stores around here don't refund or give you a new copy. In fact one store charged me for "breaking it" after I told them it was a bad disk and kept skipping. Also I hate when someone calls and I tell them what i'm watching and they go "oh did you see what happened" and i haven't seen that part yet and I get so mad!

i've found that! that is why is spend so much time trying to get the disk to work as i think that the store wont believe it wasnt me that broke it in the first place.

Well, it definitely has to be when the DVD doesn't work. It would get on my nerves real bad. Among others, it is extremely annoying when the cellphone or doorbell rings.

If I am watching a good film and the doorbell rings, it won't spoil the film for me. I will just keep watching the film. If I am not expecting anyone, I won't go to the door. That goes for the phone too. These days I have voice mail but even when I didn't have voice mail I wouldn't answer the phone. If it is important, they will call back.I usually watch films late at night so there won't be any noise to disturb me. But when i do watch a film in the afternoon and someone makes a lot of noise, I just crank up the volume on my t.v.Luckily, I haven't a DVD malfunction , knock on wood.My cable box here in the living room has DVR so I can just set it to record so if I have to go out or if I wanted to answer the door or phone, I could pause the movie and come back to it.The one thing that spoils a film for me is a plot twist that makes a good film turn into a sit com that Must have a happy ending. That spoils it for me.

when someone tells you what going to happen . or say ohh this is the good part it going to scare you. i don't like scary movies anyways but i want to watch the movie for myself and i cant stand it when someone wont let you just watch it without chatting along

Yeah, people around you are tormentors, when you want to watch a movie. I usually start watching a film when I am alone in my apartment, and nobody was planning to drop buy. Or if anyone is hanging around, I use closed headphones with extension cable.
