do you agree or disagree that girls are just as likely to do good at Highschool wrestling as Guys??? should they? what is your opinion... should they be able to wrestle guys or just girls?

I don't mind that girls want to wrestle. I think that girls should wrestle other girls. In my personal experience they don't compete on any level close to guys. I thought some of the matches I have seen between girls and guys looked rather vulgar at times. At the High school level the guys are more experienced, sometimes wrestling since 4 or 5 years old. I haven't seen any girls with that level of experience or talent. My son is a 3 time state champion and he felt awkward and overpowering going against girls. Thank goodness he was a senior when they were allowed to join the team.

One of the girls at a local school Not in our town but close. She can beat every guy at her weight class that she has wrestled so far. She won't go to state for boys... so I know she will do good with the girls state tournament!

I am a first year wrestler and am a boy and in my opinion, there should be a different league for girls if there can be enough participants collected. I have wrestled 2 girls so far, pinning them fairly quickly. At that point in a teenagers life, boys mostly have the upper hand physically if not mentally as well. When seeing a girl as an opponent, I admit I do get less nervous but I have seen 2 of my teammates lose to girls that seemed to waste no effort in beating my friends.

Well my daugheter had only wrestled boys til this year... so she was just as buff as the guys! LOL now they make her practice with the other girl... (who is the weakest...) and that has caused problems. she has several guys on her team that she can beat.. pin them without thinking... sadly she has a move... that the coachs yell at her for doing... basically cause they are use to guys... who can't move like that... but with her... she pins her guy everytime!

Well I think that if the boys are the same size and equally advanced in moves and techniques as the girl then it's all right with me.I used to fight boys when I was a girl....and as for their ability to succeed in the sport, you bet than can and will...there are some tough little chicks out there!! :)

Girls who wrestle are okay... but i think they should only wrestle girls... the boys' physique is quite different from girls and i think boy have an advantage... it is like the same in tracks... boys race with boys and girls with girls... even with swimming... But if your daughter is really good and can really take on the guys... you still have to think that maybe those guys must be giving her a lot of advantage since she is a girl...

yeah... true at least they are out there... just if the coaches didn't discriminate it would help! they don't help the girls or tell them when they could be going to other matches (with other girls) But on the other hand... she has a few guys scared of her! LOL

My 14 year old female cousin is in wrestling at her high school. She has fun even though she does not always win. I don't see a problem with it at all.

As the supersmall kid on the team, I have a bit of experience wrestling girls, and I think once the awkwardness is passed it isn't too different. Yet, there is some sort of initial instinct to feel a bit of guilt when you beat a girl badly... even if you wouldn't feel the same way if you beat a guy that way. Then again, I don't do so well either way.

i was talking to some girls that wrestle both... and they say that being beat by a guy is totally different than by a girl... cause it is usually expected by the guy... but if you loose to a girl... you get imbarresed!

Being a three year highschool wrestler myself, I believe that females belong in there own league. I am not a sexist, nor do I believe that a young woman can't compete with her male counterparts. In my experience, however, I have wrestled girls. Six matches to be exact in three years. All ended with pins in the first round. Now, I not the greatest wrestler in the world. I stuggle to maintain a 50/50 average win to lose ratio, but still the competition on the female side of the sport just doesn't match the male side.

You must not of had a good wrestler when you wrestled those girls! My daughter only wrestled guys her first two years... and her first year she took third in the all male tournament! Second year she was to sick to wrestle... She just got back for State Girls Wrestling Regionals where before she got there she was rated first in her weight class.. well she took first.. she is on her way to state!
